Re: Command line rendering in OSX

Hi, I'm working on a math project which requires a lot of rendering power and I'm trying to do some of it on one of the department's servers so as to avoid tying up all of mine for hours (or possibly days) on end. When trying to render via ssh I get the following error: "kCGErrorRangeCheck : Window...

Blender is getting very powerful and robust, but almost anyone would admit that interface needs work. Additionally, I did mention that it it did appear that the GUI was a low priority, and you seemed to reiterate my point, for some unknown reason, so it would seem that I do have a clue. Lets restat...

jesterKing, Thanks for chiming in. In as much as I am sure that changing the interface will be complicated, setting it back five years, seems indicative that the user interface is a low priority. ... Blender needs a studied user interface person. The person who started this thread offered, other pe...

Take the simplest example: the primitive meshes. Now we have: ADD (from text menu or spacebar)->MESH->various types. Which is the obstacle to simply add a toolbar with the icons for different meshes, directly accessible with one mouse click? Do you think that similar solutions would damage the Blen...

- your two images are VERY interesting. In the second, about Maya, you ONLY look at the far right, an impartial observer should ALSO notice, well... entire rows and one column full of.... ICONS, for every sort of function (those designed by Azrael are nicer though :-)). And what I wrote some posts ...

I don't know what you mean by contextual menus, but if you mean a right click context menu - those are mostly bad. In most cases they are not very clear and can only be organised in quite deep structures which both not only reduce productivity a lot but also distracts the user's attention from what...

Yep. I also disagree in some parts. Of course workflow is actually the most important. But it's not all! If it was then we could leave all the way it is. I can fully understand people that want Blender better accessible. But as I pointed out: It's not about putting icons somewhere. It should be abo...

Ok, this is obviously related to personal preferences and objectives, but are you sure that is more rewarding to continuosly add new WOW features than take also the time to better integrate the existing ones in a well designed, organised and aestethically pleasant interface? Problem is simple. rewr...

Of course do wizards have their right to exist. But you can't expect to have wizards for every occasional event that might occur. It also would be very unrealistic to expect that such wizards pop up out of nothing! The current UI for it is nearly a direct access panel to the underlying physics simu...

wont comment more on Raskin views. Archy is a horse of a very different color than the "Human Interface". Blender was designed around principles of the latter, and those still stand 20 years later. Hi Lukep. Sincerely I don't see the strict relationship between graphical interface and tool/action or...

One reviewer on Amazon criticizes the book, saying that Raskin seems ignoring the relationship bewteen aestethics and ergonomics, for example concerning the use of colors and fonts. I think that this could be said also for the Blender UI. I would like to underline that I understand the point of vie...

lukep, actually Blender has buttons for zooming, and panning and rotating the interface but they were commented out of versions that have been done since going open source. I do hope imitating a Cinema4D interface becomes possible - we shall have to wait and see what Ton comes up with :) LetterRip ...

Re: dual monitor plans ?

Hello community, are there any plans for "dual monitor" mode support ? Regards Sabrina Supporting dual monitor explicitly need fundamental changes in ghost. It is planned but wont happen soon. However, dual monitor is implicity supported on Os X, most linux dual head set-ups. On windows, you need t...
