Re: Turning off the axis selector for blender.

The 2.3 guide can be downloaded from this site as well as extensive online graphical release logs: http://www.blender.org/cms/Blender_2_37a.496.0.html Between these two resources even us 'old geezers' can keep up to date with all the latest hip stuff in blender. Regards Xarf Well I mean a feature b...

Still have problems

Dollying in and out on the camera, it doesn't let you fly anymore (with G + MMB).. Also I noticed that in ortho, the Grab has absolutely no control over the camera's view, one must manually go into the edit buttons for the camera and adjust the scale.. I like that things like being able to the selec...

Nevermind I figured it out

The only difference now is that one is not required to hold the button
down the whole time to keep the object constrained.. While I'm
familiar with the old way I can live with this..

Turning off the axis selector for blender.

Is there anyway to revert back to the old way of handling axis selection in grabs, rotations and so forth? It's incredibly difficult to use the new method.. I know I probably should have gone to Elysiun with this, but places where I expected to find a toggle switch were non-existent. I guess if the ...

open source

I think it depends a lot on how you market what you make, if its very popular, you might try to commercialize it, if that affects the popularity you might go back to shareware/freeware.. If the technique is revolutionary but not popular and the market is going in the wrong direction, you feel, you m...

Blender's best features

ITs the basic set of all tools in 3D, makes me wonder why its not being taught in most schools first.. Its like the assembly language of 3D tools. There is a belief in Universities (by some professors) that programmers should learn Assembly first and then learn all the other languages, so that devel...

Looks good

But I was not able to get this to work with Blender 2.37a, I suspect this will be in the new blender, is what you are saying.. Looks good, especially being able to have standalone demos as well, I'm looking forward to the return of blender as a web plugin, Firefox needs one badly. I think being able...

Idea

Why not make steps toward completing the collaborative 3D environment, like Verse.. But have some students work on it.. Then later you could do projects within the collaborative environment.. After that find funding for cheap head tracking systems, and cheap 3D head mont displays.. MAke the initiati...

2.37

It seems sometimes that features get added to blender that really don't add value to blender but just make it tougher to work with.. The new alignment axis are one of those.. Being use to the old way doing a drag click, in this version of blender, ti snap alignment tends to jump from y axis to x axi...

Joeri, I think your comments are more excuses than explanations.. What is your point here? I work on daily basis with Maya, in a company with two 3d animators. (What was it that you do again?) And you've met and spoke with ash brannon over a storyboard? The incredibles was practically all toon Besi...

Al nice and stuff. But.... Have you seen/heard the commentairy on "the incredibles" ? How the hair was "post", the masks where "post". Almost everything was post. I do agree that it would have been easier for the animators if that al was not post, but I don't agree that "the incredibles" *needed* p...

I agree that better preview leads to better and or more work. I don't agree that how the images look are the most important part of animations. And I don't think pixel shaders are very important to the film professionals. If you want we can have a discussion on that. How about if the openGL stuff w...

Yeah that's another use..

To see shading in realtime is a good thing, but it also would change the way movies are done (with blender), it would encourage people to make more and better stuff faster.. People who spend all their time trying to perfect shots, would be able to do it faster and thus would be challenged to make wh...

I think a good use of this Orange project would be the development of blender to overcome obstacles.. Maybe blender's development should be associated with the creation of movies, possibly commercials. Like how neo-geo was doing things in the past. That's why blender was made in the first place.
