I've figured it out—this modification works:

Code: Select all

theArmature = Blender.Armature.Get(armatureName)
theArmature.makeEditable()
theArmature.bones[boneName].roll += rollCorrectionAngle
theArmature.update()

Adjusting bone roll

Is there a way to change the roll of an existing bone with Python? The following has no effect (in 2.43 at least): Blender.Armature.Get(armatureName).bones[boneName].roll['BONESPACE'] += rollCorrectionAngle Neither does this: Blender.Armature.Get(armatureName).makeEditable() Blender.Armature.Get(arm...

Can you give more details on the animation system update? Plans for the other things you listed have been discussed elsewhere, but not for animation.

Making a true timeline Again screenshots and descriptions would be useful - as far as existing users are concerned it is a 'true timeline' - so be explicit about additional functionality you desire. I think he means a timeline where you can select, move, copy and paste keys, as in other animation s...

As said earlier, there are plenty (= 100% of them) of 3D softwares which use the same conventions. Just make Blender fit the same conventions and it will be allright. Fire up Houdini and see how many of the "conventions" you can spot. The terminology difference is not the biggest problem with the B...

Blender does have a number of very concrete design flaws. However, coming in and saying that the interface is "shit" without elaborating does not help anyone. Especially if you don't have suggestions as to how to make it "not shit". Why not point out which bits exactly you think are wrong and why no...

Right now blender is using buttons for everything, I would like to see the use of check boxes (for on/off options) and dropdown menus (multiple chose options). Absolutely. Blender should get recognizable check boxes and radio buttons. If an option is semantically a radio button (e. g. drawtype), it...

A cursor with orientation doesn't have to add any complexity to spinning or indeed any other cursor-dependent operation, except maybe an option to use cursor orientation. It's just a matter of how usable the oriented cursor can be made if it is to be implemented. As kAinStein points out, it's not re...

The problem you're experiencing is called "gimbal lock". This is not Blender-specific. You get gimbal lock in any software that uses Euler angles (three components) to represent rotations. However, some software lets you change the order of rotations, which prevents gimbal lock in many cases. Blende...

I know about using Beziers for linear slopes, and about multiple vertices at the same frame. I was just wondering whether there was some technical limitation and how likely this is to change in the future.
