But overall, is still better than making something from scratch. Blender 3 will have to be writen from scratch imho. like starting the 3.x project and porting code in a new clean and documented tree. sometime just by rewriting you can corect bug or improving stuff. If they do that, I hope they take...

better yet, use

Code: Select all

#if _MSC_VER > 1300
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
#else
#include <iostream.h>
#endif
That way it will change things only in Visual C++ 2003 or later.

Blender something called the "patch-sindrome". Where one code is patched over and over. This is normal when old code is mixed with new code. People learn more things, and their tecniques change as a result. Also, it was created in a code oriented, intead of data oriented, way is no wonder is dificul...

Posible Dangerous warnings.

After compiling blender for windows under Visual Studio 2003. I notice a lot of warnings. most of them are benign, but this one could be dangerous. source\blender\src\drawseq.c(736) : warning C4133: 'function' : incompatible types - from 'int *' to 'short *' source\blender\src\drawseq.c(737) : warni...

Is the work for this divided?

If not, why not give diferent directories of the code to diferent people. That way it could be done in little time.

The good things about plugins is that you can do performance hungry things (that are too slow for a script language) in blender. Right now the alternatives are: - Add it to the code, after familiarizing a lot with it. And hope that your changes are compatible with the newer version that will surely ...

For MS-2003

Visual C++ 2003 does not have a iostream.h header, thus in the files: source\gameengine\GameLogic\SCA_KeyboardManager.cpp source\gameengine\GameLogic\SCA_IInputDevice.cpp change the #include <iostream.h> to #if _MSC_VER >= 1300 #include <iostream> using namespace std; #else #include <iostream.h> #en...

Just a tough If someone uses the blender code without an agreement from the BF(Blender foundation, original licensor) then that code is covered by the GPL. If the person changes the code then that code is still covered by GPL. If the change is added to the CVS then the code is still covered by GPL. ...

:shock: This is the program with most warnings I have seen in my programming life. This makes a nightmare to find real bugs on code, much less to add new features to blender.

Need info on plugins.

Searching the documentation i found that there are only 2 types of plugins available. - Texture : for creating procedural textures. - Sequence : to manipulate the render. Since compiled code is many times faster that interpreted code, why not include the ability to make plugins for other areas, such...
