There isn't much particular to blender in terms of mice. Its just a mouse, get what you like to use for regular stuff. I don't like the mighty mouse because of its rather "unique" middle scroll button. Id go with an optical mouse with only 2 buttons plus a "normal" middle scroll wheel. Extra "fancy"...

Modeling stuff: Stick Modifier> I have no idea what you mean. What are you trying to accomplish with this? Volumetric scale constraint> Sounds neat, What are you planning on using this for? Interface stuff: Grid Align Panels> I agree. This is a feature I would expect. Splitters> It is difficult, bu...

1) .blend format supports compression, digital signatures, encryption ... (from the features page) Blender used to have a way to lock game files but it was removed when Blender became open source. Reason for removing this was because the file was not really locked since the game player could open it...

There's talk of future integration with freestyle: http://www.blendernation.com/2007/02/28/non-photorealistic-renderer-integration-for-blender/ and here's some interesting work using nodes to create a more sketchy effect: http://www.blendernation.com/2007/02/22/toonsketch-rendering-with-nodes/ happy...

The people who are defending Blender's user interface to the death may do this out of loyalty towards Blender and the developers. Perhaps, but the only reason I've ever defended the UI is because I think the suggested improvements don't go far enough to solve the problem/ aren't well thought out. I...

while I dont know anything about this design change, if I were looking I'd check out the mailinglist archives, specifically bf-committers and bf-blender-cvs. http://projects.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/ though it doesnt look like there is a search function, so check out what google says: http://www...

I have never had much conflict with the current system, but using your test build is very nice, I think you may be able to find a more convenient place for the menuitem, but other than that this is great! :) (the menuitem isnt that bad, but that menu is very long, perhaps it should be split in somew...

click on the "view" menu, and go to the "background image" option. all the settings you need come up in a panel. (the view button on the 3d window header, background image is like the 2nd option) in the future, questions like this are better suited for the blenderartists.org users forum. http://blen...

aoe2bug, there is no need for a beginning user to need to find the preferences The language is changed via the preferences, which is rather important, espcially for new users who don't have english as a first language. LetterRip whoops. perhaps if the preferences could be left where they are...

indeed. while blender's interface may be in need of some improvement, I am not convinced that any of your proposals are worth the change. although the hot-keys are perhaps in need of an update, your proposal about basing the central functions around the qwe keys seems pointless (its not like those k...

So lukep "works in 2D not in 3D" I take it from your comment that the box commands only work in 2D and not 3D that you never use the "B" key command in Blender? i don't think he was referring to box select in general, merely the "left-right is different from right-left" part. also, i had an idea th...

Why all these posts about Blender's UI needing change?* I think it's coming along nicely, the new drawtype in T3 is sweet, and there is another project to update the icons ( I believe I read something about vector icons, not sure). Also, when you're really into blending, are you looking at the UI? I...
