Why not ZIP

nice build, but why no ZIP? ZIP is built into XP now and all, why not use it.

Not a Mass-hole... ( :) )
but I live in Maine. If you had a "meet-up" I might make the drive down from here.

When this site came back up I thought it was the development site. Related only to the development of blender. Elysiun was the community site. For true chats like this one. I have two things to say, then I hope this thread dies: 1) Art can not be bound by rules of nudity vs p0rN. A nude woman is not...

cool!

Exciting additions! But, let me get this straight, you can only make an official win32 build with MSVC but these testing builds are all tar.gz?? *sigh* Ignore Occluded would be cool. We have "undo" now, I'd hate to think the original Blender holdouts are making a "Custer's Last Stand" on the whole h...

Has anyone tried the free Visual Studio Express products?

Has anyone tried the free Visual Studio Express products to compile Blender? I have to admit I am disappointed that MS Visual Studio is the official platform for WIN32 Blender development, but this takes the sting out of that decision:

Has anyone tried them?

blender-gasmic!!

I got mine (US, East Coast, Maine), autographed to boot (thanks Ton)!! The screenshots in mine are WAY too light, and even the radiosity section with the BattleStar Gallactica Raider GI tut -- the images are aliased and bitty. But that is not a big deal, I have this web site and access to the materi...

Just.... wow....

Back in 1998(?) who would have thought all of this would come to be. I am just amazed at the progress in these daily builds. You guys rock. I expected some time to understand C before things really started moving!

thanks!

I am glad to hear such a quick reply. I am also very happy to hear that someone is dedicated to building with free tools under win32. SCons sounds better and more manageable than all the makefiles.

Thank you.

future of Cygwin build

Theeth posted on Elysiun that the only official build of Blender on WIN32 was M$VC 6. That statement coupled with the migration to SCons* prompts me to ask: What is the future of the Cygwin build for WIN32? I know that a lot of the Win32 coders seem to like/use/have M$VC, but I don't like it. I'd li...

But Blender itself has gotten MUCH bigger. When the 2.04 Ipaq version came out GameBlender was the latest. Since then we've gotten ray tracing and all of that. Also the game engine that Blender 2.04 used was/is not open source and can't be released. There is a new game engine, but I don't know where...

Does this sum it up for you? We don't have permission to release the the code for the port. It was based at 2.04 (that code will be released!) because the later versions of Blender, with the new engine, are far too heavy to run at the ipaq. The game engine is the issue (right?) and I don't think any...

How to change splash screen

Just for kicks I thought I'd change the splash screen. I found the file: splash.jpg.c But it's encoded with what seems to be called "DataToC". Is this a UUENCODE type thing or an internal program.

Just very curious...

Yikes, I should let my part of this thread die. But I can't resist. I am not talking about Blender's game engine (I actually for got it had one till slikdigit mentioned it). ~~~~Dream Sequence ~~~~ You work at Naughty Dog and are working on Jak and Daxter 3. Maybe I mixed my terms... What if you were a game development studio and wanted to use Blender. You could A: go into the source and mix in your game renderer's code and fix all the bugs and such the integration would cause (including mapping the materials settings to your renderer's requirements). O...

I think the render engines should be modular and offer Traces, Blender and Yafray as plug-ins... If that is even possible. From what I know of the game development world, they often compile their realtime renderers as Max or Maya plug-ins and can "see" models as they'd appear in the game itself.... ...
