I also noticed that when using B-Bones and giving the last bone in the chain several segments, along with the other bones in the chain, that, although the bones closer to the root exhibit "bendiness", the last IK constrained bone does not bend much, if at all. As a workaround, you could just make th...

When using auto IK, (i.e. on the last bone in the chain), keyframes seem unable to be set for loc or rotation of the bone. In every other way, the auto IK seems to work, just doesn't allow for keying the bone you manipulate using auto IK.

Well, to restate my question: Since the half-edge structure has been implimented, will N-gons be adopted by Blender soon? Will a new knife tool be developed that can cut both edges and inside faces and connect vertices, leaving no unwanted triangle geometry. . . soon? F-gons are an improvement, for ...

How Does Current Half-Edge Development Relate to N-Gons?

The Blender community is so full of buzz-words . . . like "half-edge" mesh editing. Great communication tools for developers, but they leave the rest of us in the dust. Can someone please comment on what half-edges do, using examples, if possible, for the common Blender user? Will these new "half-ed...

Hand Movement and New IPO Drivers

Hand animation is just as crucial to believable character animation as is facial animation, and the new IPO driver functionality seems to lend itself perfectly to driven hand digit animation. However, it appears that the current driver system only applies to single IPO curves, not actions, as would ...

I noticed in the release notes for the new "IPO Driver" animation upgrade that even actions can be driven by the movement of another object, just like any IPO can be driven. How can an object be added as a driver for an action composed of armature movement?

Thanks,

Sorry, I was wrong . . . "Alt-P" does, indeed, unparent the mesh from the original armature. This works fine with the "pin" enabled for the linked mesh, leaving an on-screen version of the mesh tweaking... Apparently, shapes are limited to deformations made "manually" when in edit mode using either ...

That tutorial from GuitarGeek is very nice. However, the mesh he uses in his example is not parented to an armature. Once a mesh is parented, pressing "Alt-D" to make a linked duplicate, makes the duplicate become parented to the same armature. When trying to move this duplicated mesh "to one side",...

With the new "blendshapes", is there any functionality currentlyavailable that allows a "new shape Key" to be set using the armature as the basis for the mesh deformation that constitutes the shape? (i.e. for creating various hand positions controllable via "shape sliders"). Can anyone expand on the...

Where's Weight Paint in 2.37a?

I can't find it. I'm pulling my hair out now after many hours. No more weight paint mode? No icon, anyway. Where's the documentation on this new hidden feature? It's not gone, is it?

The BlenderHead Sneezes - Comprehensive Video

Here are the final 6 segments of the series "The Blender Head for The Blenderhead". These segments cover an in-depth application of facial bone and Relative Vertex Key animation, (morph targets). A sneeze is a very dynamic facial expression involving nearly all of the facial muscles - animating one ...

JJJolton: I'll probably do one or two more free series, (series meaning around 12 segments). These take an incredible amount of time and hair pulling to produce. I'd like to start marketing what I make at a low price point - around $29 for a 3 session, (36 video segments) tutorial set for immediate ...

Hybrid Facial Animation with Blender!

Here are several more segments that cover the use of both bones and RVK's for a very convincing facial animation product:

The links should now all work from the beginning through segment 12.

I don't seem to be able to get anonymous access to my ftp site, so I moved the file to the visiontovision.com root directory. You can get it there.

I've uploaded all of the tutorial files that I have completed so far in one archive entitled

BlenderHead1-7.rar

Just point your FTP client at the following site:
