Concerning MakeHair I just read on the MakeHuman site:
In theory it's 98% complete.
But now we are trying a new way that seem improve greatly the performances and the usage: the renderman curves.
So that will be great! 8)

Particles themselves don't cast shadows, hence hair and fur also isn't self-shadowed. Also how do you apply a texture with UVs? Only Orco seems to work for me. At the moment you can fake some effects within Blender but unfortunately there is nothing comparable yet to one of the solutions for other a...

Hey Katt, thanks for your reply! :D This is surely one of the best looking approaches to hair in Blender so far. As far as I read though I think it actually adds geometry (slim cylinders) for every hair in realtime (not on render). There is also an alternative by using cards kind of like in Beast. T...

I'm not sure that's what you are looking for but unlike in previous versions MMB gives you now the option to pick an axis which I find personally kind of tedious. I guess there are people that use it though. You can get the old functionality back though by hitting R twice when rotating (without MMB).

Hair?

Greetings, Yes, I can imagine alot of people have asked this before, I'm sorry if I'm number 1001. I was curious if it's likely we'll see some hair solution some time? Is anybody working on something like this? I've seen people work with geometric hair like Fiber produces, billboards (Beast) and par...

Pretty cool, thanks for the link. I think this has pretty good chances to replace the traditional means some time.

Rigging, Weighting, and Appending?

Greeting fellow Blender users, I have been getting into Blender more and more recently and have a question about appending a rigged and weighted model. You see I am not sure it can be done. I tried it but it didn't seem to work. Also I googled but came up blank. Does anyone know if it is possible to...

Exporting a posed model

Hi, I am new to Blender and I just have a quick question, any help or thoughts would be appreciated. This is what I would like to do. -Rig an already existing model, not for animation just for ease of posing. -Export the posed model to .OBJ. I have no need for the rig, I just want the posed model to...
