Beginner tutorial in manual "Gus" needs some updat

Just to let the tech writing team know, in the 1st modeling tutorial, it needs some explanation that to assign a material or texture the user needs to click on the box next to the name entry, then click on the particular created material in the drop down list. I could not have known this without a Y...

Back by popular demand... mine :D

I recently downloaded 2.66 and actually began reading the manual and working the beginner tutorial.

The problem I'm having is panning the 3D viewport. Any pointers?

Well as it has turned out, the CAD program threw me a curve. The "freeware" version doesn't support solid model editing, so I have to find another route. I'm looking at how much they want to soak this empoverished scientist, but we'll see. There may be other routes beside that as well. Thankyou for...

I just checked. It is 2.49. It sounds as if you are saying it should work without any add-ons. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, even though that just sounds so impossible (LOL). I'll try again.
