For us mac os x users Apple who have access to more than one computer has released xgrid - www.apple.com/acg/xgrid/
It won't work with blender yet and i haven't read the development docs but I wonder what can be done for distrubuted rendering?

Blender 2.23 for mac does have problems rendering, nothing you can do will fix it. Now 2.25 BlenderPublisher works great for rendering but it is very slow compared to the linux & windows versions. I would suggest getting your hands dirty and figure a way of compiling an OS X version from the source ...
