I don't understand what is meant by replacing printf with fprintf. I'm using the version of Blender I downloaded from blender.org. I did not build it from source code, so I wouldn't be able to make any modifications like that.

I can get output to show up in the command line terminal if I dig down into the application bundle. For example. Assming I'm in the directory where the file blender.app is located, I can type: ./blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender & This will launch Blender and then output from python will print to t...

I don't know if there is anything special about the way Blender starts up. My test application was a Cocoa application. I'm not sure what kind of results someone will get if they output text using Carbon. I do know that when I execute a script that has errors, the error output from Blender will show...

I wrote a program that executed the following lines of code on the Macintosh; ::printf("This is output from printf.\n"); ::fprintf(stdout, "This is output from fprint.\n"); std::cout << "This is output sent to the character output stream.\n"; ::NSLog(@"This is Cocoa message send to stderr."); All of...

Output is not showing up in the console. I've tried it on two different systems. Error output from Blender (like script syntax errors, etc.) will show up in the console. However, something simple like this: print 'This is an output message' will not display any output in the console. This used to wo...

Python output in Mac OS X 10.5

I'm using Blender on a PowerPC Dual G5 Macintosh computer that is running Mac OS X 10.5.1. Previously I had OS X 10.4 installed on it, and the output from Python scripts in Blender would appear in the Console application. Now I am finding that the output from Python scripts no longer appears in the ...

I looked up the documentation for the profiler. I added code like the following to my script: import profiler ... profile.run('startScript()') and I get a stack trace that ends like this: NameError: name 'startScript' is not defined I tested the profiler in a stand alone Python script that executes ...

Debugging Blender Python scripts with pdb

How can someone use pdb to debug Python scripts in Blender?

I've tried using Winpdb, and when I start execution of the script in the debugger, Blender complains that the file I'm trying to use is not a Blender file.

I'd like to see if I can get something simpler like pdb to see how well that works.

That's no problem. I can post my animation file. It animated fine in 2.41. It is slow in RC3.

I'm not sure if I should submit it as a bug in Bug Tracker or post it somewhere else.

What is the best approach for this?

So what steps needs to be taken to make the development team are aware of this so that the problem can get fixed?

I don't know if anyone has entered a bug or anything against it.

Animation playback slowness in RC3

I am using Release Candidate 3 for Blender 2.42, and I am noticing that the animation playback is much slower than it was in version 2.41.

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem, and if this is a known issue or whether a bug should be entered against it.

I don't know if this is the same problem or not. I did not evaluate the rig to see how its behaving. The problem I'm having is kind of subtle. For the most part the features work just fine. It's when fine tuning is needed that things become difficult. Anyway, the end effect here is that the problem ...

The popping action had to with abrupt movement of the leg. It would straighten out and the bend again in a quick motion that actually be painful to someone walking that way in real life. I was trying to get a more natural realistic motion with the leg. I don't think anything has been fixed concernin...
