You can save as animated .gif in Gimp without any script. Put individual frames in layers... But I think it's better to ask such questions here: http://blenderartists.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24

Same error here:
error while loading shared libraries:
libpng.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Using Ubuntu, installed:
libpng10-0, libpng12-0, libpng12-dev :roll:
