Same here. Sculpt is unuseable in the Mac OS X version of Blender 2.44.

It does work in a custom intel build I made the other day however.

Hah, finally! Got the beast to compile! I was a bit confused by the different libraries in os x. I didn't have a scons file in /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/bin but solved it by installing scons again, after Python 2.5. Typing Python in terminal correctly says it's 2.5.1 Thanks f...

Jens : Oh, thanks again, sorry I was not online yesterday. One thing is strange on my system. There is no '2.5' directiry in /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/ I installed the precompiled os x distribution of Python, and I do have the MacPython 2.5 directory in /Applications/. Hm...

Thanks a million Jens. Very nice of you. I did run into some problems though: I installed Python 2.5 and so I found it logical that I should type /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/bin/scons to build. However there seems to be no such directory. So I went back to the config file and c...

Hi Jens, would you mind posting a step-by-step guide about compiling Blender on OS X now that you got it?

There seems to be almost no documentation on building for OS X.

sculpt mode unuseable on new MacBook Pro

Hi, Does anyone else have experience with the new Santa Rosa-based MacBook Pros? Everything in Blender works perfect on mine, except sculpt mode. The graphics card is quite good, yet Blender keeps freezing everytime I try to sculpt an object, or zoom in while in sculpt mode. This is the same weather...

This seems to be intel-only. Could you post a universal binary perhaps? I'm still on PPC (for now) and would love to test a new build.

Cheers.

I was thinking... For a universal binary, would we have to switch to XCode for the mac version of Blender? As far as I know Blender doesn't really compile in Xcode ATM, or am I wrong?

Blender as Universal Binary?

Quick question: Is anyone working on making a Universal Binary version of Blender? I am considering a new Macbook Pro, and Blender is important to me. I would assume Blender would be relatively easy to port since it is designed in a very cross-platform way, and mostly relies on OpenGL, which is impl...

I do not think there is. This example is one of many. Lots of useful features are turned off by default. The reason is not a logical, but historical one: Typically in Blender, when a new feature is added, the old behavior is kept as the default, so not to confuse people who were used to the old meth...

BTW, not to be a pest, but are any mac builders willing to post a recent Orange build? Have been having problems compiling myself lately. Would be great to try some of the new post-2.4 stuff!
