I downloaded the last version from cvs just to see Grouping at work. I expected that to be more straightforward, like — Select two or more objects, hit Ctrl-G, and input in a field that automatically comes up the desired name for the group. Also, I expected the created groups to behave afterwards li...

I think you repeatedly missed the part where Joeri said this is available in blender and has been so for several years. Create an empty and track (ctrl-T) your camera to it. No, I didn't miss it. I'm using that already. (Thanks again for the tip). I just said it would be better and friendlier to ha...

These requests for premade setups are boring. Man... if this is the general line of thought around here, right in the Interface & Tools forum, too bad... I don't think such a preset is silly or for silly people. I thought BogdanOancea was talking about becoming an animation master. Um... no,...

Even if there is a CAD script, circle-based objects are so frequently needed that to resort to a script everytime would be annoying, 'cause scripts are usually tucked somewhere at the end of a convoluted menu. (By the way, I felt that scripts are for more esoteric things). Native presets, like I exp...

This is a little tricky to explain: In any viewport, the camera is difficult to maneuver to make it point, like, 20 units farther than the previous 10 units, but to keep it paralel with the horizon. Even if you rotate it with the Transform Orientation changed to "Local", it's still a mess. But here ...

Circumscribed vs. Encircling

As we all Blender users know, the spheres, cylinders, tubes and cones available in the Mesh category are not circumscribed to a 1x1 square, as normally expected. Instead they encircle it. That makes working with exactly measured circles kinda strange, to say the least. I don't know about you, but mo...

a Target Camera would be great

I'm not an animation master, nevertheless I'm glad to see Blender getting really good at the animation side of things. Kudos to the Orange Team! But I was wondering how do you feel when you have to set up rendering a scene with the current type of camera. Isn't too cumbersome? A "Target Camera" (tha...

It's the first time in my life I deeply regret I'm not a programmer
I would have done that myself.

Have a nice day

The script doesn't work here: 2.37 on an eMac with OS X 10.3.3
Thought you might like to know.

Thanks anyway for taking care of this 3ds need.

Hi everybody After downloading v. 2.37 and seeing that your changes for maximizing/minimizing the viewports didn't made it in this release, I'm bringing this subject back in your attention. So we had two possible solutions: - simply changing CTRL-UPARROW to a less cumbersome shortcut (CTRL-SPACEBAR ...

I read the text from the above link, and I knew the appending routine, and just found about the linking possibility.

Anyway, I have a Blender scene containing a couple of transparent material spheres with different IOR values.
Should I send it to you? Or post it? Is it worth?

In 2004 I had for a while the Maya 5 Personal Learning Edition (I wanted to, well, learn Maya), until I discovered there is a free and powerful 3D program called Blender, downloaded it (2.33a) and started coming to gripes with its idiosincracies. With all due respect, I gave up Maya, but I remember ...
