Blender is a very large, fairly complicated program to be porting to assembly. I don't think you realize the amount of work it would entail. Do you want to do this just because you're a Microsoft junkie? Or because you want to use Blender on an obseleted machine which doesn't have a modern C/C++ com...

Face Normal Direction Calculation seems backwards

Hi there. I have a question about the way blender calculates face normals. If you're not a math guru please take a second or third look at this question before answering... Here's a C++ized version of what blender currently does (from arithb.c): point CalcNormXXX( point A, point B, point C, point &r...

You may have a problem with python. Blender and python both expect the console to exist as a place to dump text. For example: frame output when rendering animations. What I would recommend is replacing the console with an output emulator on the pocketpc. Someone might have already written something ...

Sorry to keep beating a dead horse, but the more this stuff is disseminated into the general C programming mindset the better. Naming Conventions Since C does not explicitly provide a boolean data type, variables which are expected to maintain boolean values should be tagged as such. The reas...

If you want to learn 3D coding, Blender is probably not your best choice as a beginner. It's a fairly complex piece of software and it's not at all obvious how things connect to work. Once you get some experience you'll know better how to examine it, but for starters, I would follow scourage 's sugg...

   I know next to nothing about CVS. It's a veritable miracle that I can use it at all... The blender tree creates a lib directory (with only a 'windows' sub-folder), but seeing the lib directory at the top methought 'great' and forgot to explicitly get it. I missed this because I'...

Ah, I don't feel so bad about my antique software now that I know theeth's using it too... Yes, it's the intern that's erring. I introduced a bug I couldn't find when I tried to make a floating window in the text editor so I renamed that tree (for playing with later) and checked-out a completely fre...

Robust Booleans in C

Hi. I am new to the Blender codebase, and I am impressed by the work you're all doing. That said, C lacks an explicit boolean type which traditionally causes some confusion and irregularities in coding style. Remember, in C, booleans are evil, and they'll seek to destroy your sanity. Ton s...

Is MSVC++ 6 depreciated? (No. It works fine.)

The past couple of days I've been checking out the latest CVS but nothing I get will compile. In particular, it complains about openal (missing) and the sound system (looks restructured). Does anyone (besides myself) still use MSVC 6? Or are the project workspaces just not being actively maintained ...

Er, SDNA produces a bitcode which describes the data structures used in Blender. This bitstring is what gives Blender the ability to load and save .blend files with both forward and backward compatability against any other file version of Blender. SDNA also forces 8-byte alignment for cross-platform...

Heh, yes, I've read all those quite thoroughly to no avail. As far as I understand it, the whole point of SDNA is that the makesdna utility automatically produces the SDNA data string. Wait, I just found the answer. I added a single int to the structure, which is a 4-byte type. I think the complaint...

SDNA SpaceX modification help

Hi, I'm playing around with my copy of the source a little to get comfortable with how things fit together. I've added a flag to the SpaceText structure (an integer) but now the makesdna utility complains that the structure length is wrong. My problem is I can't figure out what makesdna is comparing...

Please fix VC6 workspace

Hi. I'm brand new. Could someone who knows what they're doing please fix the CVS thus:

bf-blender VC6 workspace needs the following file added:

BL_src files
- Source Files
- - add: ~/develop/blender/source/blender/src/transform_conversions.c

This is necessary for compilation...

Thanks!
