bounding box patch

I was wondering if the bounding box patch when you rotate the viewport is still in consideration for future development.

I would like to suggest adding wireframe as an option.
This would make it easier to model high density models.

Modifer nodes idea

I was wondering if nodes for the modelling modifers was possible. For example, simple subd node -> disp image node -> simple subd node -> disp image node The result would be something like normal mapping, where the model maintains its volume, unlike displacement mapping which uses the catmull clark ...

Lighter Manuals

I've downloaded the manuals, and found out that if I reprint to PDF, the file is smaller and lighter.

The worst one is the Beginners Tutorial Guide. It's slow to load in acrobat, but after reprinting to PDF, its quicker.

Hope this is helpful

Displacement Modifier

Has anyone suggested a displacement modifier in the modeling stack? So, we can paint the image in UV/image editor, and it automatically updates the mesh. My suggested workflow is to add multiple modifiers, for low/medium/high details. The modifiers should have options to enable/disable modifier in v...

Slow panning

When modelling, I sometimes find that panning (shift + MMB) goes really slow when I zoom into my mesh.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I guess that the sensitivity is reduced when zoomed in, and returns back to normal when zoomed out.

The Orange Project

The Orange project has done wonders to the animation side of Blender, and there are talks of an Orange 2 project.:D

What do you think of a Game Orange Project?
This will give a massive boost to the Game Engine part of Blender.:D

Character rig demo reel

Check this out.
http://maks.free.fr/reel/
taken from CGTALK frontpage.

I'm impressed with the facial rig, and procedural animation.
Hope blender's animation system will get as advance as the one shown in the demo reel.

Intel 830M

I am using the Intel 830M integrated in my laptop, and I too find that the background image slows down blender.

My workround make a SVG image using inkscape, and import as SVG.
Then use the curves as spline guides.

Grateful if the developers can have a look into the background slowdown.

Make Face key

When you make a polygon with F key, the face defaults as solid type rather than smooth face.
I end up selecting all, then press smooth button, which is a very slow workflow.

Extend edge keep the new polys as smooth. Can we have the same for F key.

Suggestion for the Merge Tool

Can we have another option in the Merge tool to merge to the last vertex selected?

Something like
1) Center
2) Cursor
3) Last Point

Toolbar

Thanks for the toolbar. :D Is it possible to add a macro feature to the toolbar? For example, To align central vertices to x=0, I would press '.','s','x','0',enter. I don't like the numpad '.' view selected, and instead use snap cursor to selection, then press 'c'. This is similar to aim (a) in Wing...

Tweak mode??

Is there a tweak mode?
The closest method is click and drag vertex, then click to finish. Really slow.

Wings3D has tweak mode which is great.
Silo uses the control button. You hold down the control button, and it goes into tweak mode as long as the button is held down. This is a boost in workflow.

The great thing aboout Wings3D's virtual mirror is that it isn't restricted to X/Y/Z axis. The topology tool allows you to draw edgeloops on a high density mesh, and it automatically builds the low poly mesh from the edgeloops. I think there are some videos on nevercenter's website. Worth checking o...

Advance Modelling Tools

Do the developers look at Wings3D and Silo for features?

Some features I like are

1) Wings3D's virtual mirror
2) Silo Topology tool

Silo looks like a great tool, it looks like a combination of blender with wings3d tools.

slow displacement mapping

I've been testing the displacement feature, but only to subd level 4. Any higher, it hangs.

Does anyone know if displacement mapping will be optimized in the next BF/ Tuhopuu3 versions?

What stage of development are normal maps and displacment map at?
