Re: blender's file format

I am looking in readfile.c and writefile.c and I am just lost... I am currently using python and struct lib to read the binary data, but I am having troble connect data types. Is all the data 'signed char' ? I went ahead and split the file up from the text DATA and unpacked as 'signed char' to get ...

First off ... The BRIDGE tool seems absolutely GREAT (when it doesnt crash...wich it does 95 percent of the time). Do you mean it crashes Blender, or that it pops up an error message saying "Unsolvable Mesh"? if the latter, then the problem comes from the orientation-solver I wrote (which needs to ...

Crash crash and crash (at least under Mac OS X 10.3.8) 1) it starts up normally and everything seems normal 2) then I add an HE mesh object and the mesh looks skewed, it's a box - but the box is about 50 % skewed in the Y direction) 3) Trying to move vertices around works fine until it crashes 4) T...

Great work, only you should immediately implament undo, it would be extremly usefull during the testing. Otherwise, greate:) P.S You should take a look at smoothing, because when I put "smooth" and use it with subsurf, some faces remain solid. undo doesn't work? what? it works for me, on my windows...

HE Mesh build 2, with OSX curtesy of tripdragon/zippy!

[Note: cross-posted on elysiun] A new testing build of HE Mesh. This one features transparent faces like in the normal mesh, per-face materials support, no orco sorry, better mouseover highlights, and theme support for the mouseover highlights. Also, materials load correctly now for HE mesh. And a b...

Eek! I forgot to credit lukep and others on this! lukep (Jean-Luc Peuriere), gave several highly important insights (or should I say corrections) early on in the development of this. If not for him, all HE Mesh would be right now is 1000 lines of useless code. And, of course, the selection mode stuf...

HEMesh build

Available here is the first public testing version of HE Mesh, a new secondary Wing3D-style mesh object type in Blender that is *not* meant to replace the old one. Read this page for more info: http://wiki.blender.org/bin/view.pl/Blenderdev/HeMesh ---Downloads: - Win32: http://download.blender.org/d...

HE mesh is fairly close to supporting construction history. The real major problem is the unified transform system, as it is theres no way to "catch" a transformation and then, say, reapply it later. But I have written tool macro support :) Look for a testing build as soon as I can get the rendering...

Ok, the wiki page is out of date, so heres the email report I sent to bf-committers today. A short intro: HE Mesh is an implementation of a new 3D object type in Blender, that aims to support Wings3D-style modelling. It is meant to work in addition of, and not replace, the current mesh object type. ...

Knock, knock ! No news about Blender, going out of my mind .... Can't wait to see what goes next with the best OpenSource, and not only, 3D ap. in the world. B-con is still "1". Re: How can you improve the menu?

I found that the menu display speed in 2.36 is a lot better than the previous version (2.34). Can someone tell me what had been done? I think if someone can apply the same fixes/enhancements to the text editor window and the 3D window, it will solve the problem with the ATI video driver. Sorry, I d...

Re: vertex, face, edge selection more rigid..

Something I've noticed with the new version of blender, I can't select a vertex off the edge of the screen. I understand that the selection system has changed, but I loved the ability to select points by closest proximity. Is that ever going to come back? Maybe as an option? Selection is down by cl...

Here are some interesting links. Half-Edge data structure from flipcode: http://www.flipcode.com/articles/article_halfedge.shtml You'll find inside this pdf the allegedgy elusive radial-edge structure. But it's only discussed briefly. http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/publications/artigo_2001_multiregio...
