I'm no expert by far, but maybe you could use the shrinkwrap modifier to shape your mesh around a cone object. The cone could be whatever shape, size etc. that you want. Not sure if this will give you exactly what you want.

Did you press "Shift"+"C" key to center the view?
Otherwise maybe you changed your camera clipping distance?
For the second problem, if your 3D window is too narrow to show all of the bar, you can scroll it to the left ("Shift"+MiddleMouseButton) and maybe you will see the layers gadget.

You need to make sure you have selected all vertices (use the 'A' key to select all). This will ensure that you have selected all vertices, even if they are hidden. But why not just translate in object mode?

Try increasing the number of passes for render. Go to the 'integrator' panel and where you see 'Render" and "Preview", the defaults are 10 and 40 respectively. Increase the "Render" value to a higher number, say at least 100. It will take longer to render, but it should make it look better. You can ...

Could be the lighting. Since you mention "diffuse" as color, I am not sure if you're using Cycles render or Blender redner. Try a sun or hemi, and aim toward the object. You can also increase the strength of the lamp. For start, try 4.00.

Absolute beginner - suggestions for where to start learning

I have some experience in BASIC programming, but I have never used Python. I'd like to have at least some working knowledge so that I might at least create some simple scripts for use with Blender. I've searched for tutorials, both text and video, but they are either too basic and don't really get i...

After you click "Save" from the menu, you need to also click "Save as blender file" in the upper right hand corner of the browser window.

One thing I see in the second image, your lamp falloff distance is only 3 Blender units. The default is 30, so try increasing that. I can't tell your scale but it looks kind of big so maybe that will help.

It's hard to tell from your image, but it looks like maybe you didn't select the last face on the right before you extruded.

I am using the game engine. I am not at all familiar with Python, so I have no idea what that script is or how to use it. I had assumed that somehow the "random" actuator in the BGE might be used along with some value input to a sensor....such as =>, <= etc, but I couldn't see exactly how that might...

Blender game random movement

Still trying to get random movement in the Blender Game Engine. I want to make a reel spin sort of like a slot machine. I can make it spin OK when I press a key or mouse button, etc. but I don't know how to get a random value for the degrees of rotation. Any ideas are welcome.

Trying to set up a motion somewhat like a reel on a slot machine. Using the spacebar to initiate a spin is OK, as long as I hold the spacebar down it spins. But I want to hit the spacebar once and then have the wheel spin a random number of times and stop on a face of the cylinder. I don't see how t...
