If you duplicate the object, you also duplicate its materials . But you can go to the materials properties panel of the duplicate and make it single user, then load a separate image as the new texture image, and then be sure to choose the new image from the drop-down list in the UV editor window as ...

You can use constraints. Use an 'Action' as the constraint type. Select the object you want to rotate, add constraint 'action' and select the control object as the 'target'. Create the keyframe animation for the first object as usual and use the same frame numbers in the constraint. Then set the con...

If I understand you correctly, you need to click 'Assign' to map the UV image to the selected faces. Then you can also use a different image to map to different faces. Are you using Cycles render or Blender render?

Fluid simulation in Cycles

I can get fluids sim to work, but one HUGE problem is that the 'fluid' is always made of big cubes of 'stuff' and although it behaves like a liquid, it looks like it's made from Lego blocks! Is there a setting to make it smoother? I have tried setting the smoothing to 2 or higher and the subdivision...

CoDEmanX,
Thanks for the reply. Now it seems then that this only works when using the Blender internal render, not Cycles. OK. But when I tried it, there was still no color at all when rendered. The cube that I tried didn't even show in gray now.
Nothing at all like there was no cube in the scene.

What good is vertex paint mode?

I have used vertex paint mode, but when I render the object (Blender render or Cycles render) there is no color on the object. Only the default gray. So what is vertex paint used for? Am I missing something? The colors do show up in vertex paint mode, solid or textured display, but that's the only p...

I have the ATI Radeon 5570 and I have installed the latest driver. (Prior to installing it I couldn't even see "Redwood" as an option under 'OpenCL'). I tried rendering several different .blend files under "Supported" and "CPU" and then using "Experimental" and "Redwood" (GPU), but the render times ...

Thanks for that link! But now I still can't tell if that means my GPU can be used in Cycles rendering. It didn't seem to go any faster than the CPU, and that's why I wasn't sure if it was using GPU or CPU, regardless of my settings.

I have Blender 2.63 with an ATI Radeon 5570, and the only option is under the 'experimental' setting, and it says "Redwood", but I haven't been able to find out what that means. As far as I can tell, GPU rendering with my card doesn't work. If anyone has an answer about this "Redwood" thing, please ...

Sensor only responds once in game logic

I've started working with simple game logic controls. When I use the LMB during game play, I have set it to restart the game. It works once only, and when the game restarts, it no longer responds. I have to hit the ESC key to quit the embedded game player. If I then start the player again, the LMB w...

Stiv, as I said, I don't even know for sure if the graphics card IS being used, since I can't find a definite answer about what the "Redwood" option is actually doing. That's the reason I posted the question.

What is 'Redwood' option under 'OpenCL'?

When I choose 'Experimental' as the render option in Cycles and go to the user preferences, 'system' tab, the choices are 'None > CPU' or 'OpenCL > 'Redwood'. My system has and AMD ATI Radeon graphics card. I have chosen this option, but there were two things I noticed. First, the rendering time usi...

Not sure I understand what you want, but in blender you can easily animate a cube to rotate, and assign a movie to each or any face of the cube. Once you've rendered it as an animation, it will play like any other movie file. The cube will rotate with the live video(s) on any of the faces.

See if you can use GPU rendering for Cycles. Sometimes it is faster than CPU rendering.
