From Blender Game Engine to Ogre,Girona,Crystalblend, Nebula

Hi, I hope projects like Girona, Ogre, Crystalblend, Nebula Blender Gameplayers will take off. I offer some assistance in transition from Ketsji. I posted my plans on bf-committers: "Ton asked me to outline plans of my new game engine contributions. I haven't spoken to Kester yet, so plans might sti...

contact

Hi Bandoler, your plans sounds good ! its good to see some motivated people who want to add gameplay to blender. i try to contact you directly, but I don't have any email etc. Bandoler, could you mail me at girona@erwincoumans.com I'm interested to see if the can be some kind of collaboration with o...

Actually, I will have a look at this bug.
I abstracted the Solid / Sumo physics to open doors for Ode or alternative physics engine. I might have time to add some better physics soon.

The raycasting goes through the abstraction now, but the mouse-over was not ported properly.

if you need a windows build, in the 'Testing Builds' forum there is Tuhopuu / Windows (2004/03/20): http://www.thehive.se/tuhopuu/tuhopuu-2004-03-20-windows.zip Also, I hope someone will upgrade to the most recent version of ODE. Since a few weeks it has a new iterative solver 'QuickStep' -> much fa...

easter egg: ode physics allows point to point constraint

after years of being hidden in the open source project, here is an easter egg:

You can use ODE constraints like point 2 point constraint in the current tuhopuu version.

get
http://www.erwincoumans.com/blender/p2p.blend
to see how ;-)

easter egg ;-)

to see how ;-)

Someone can pick up the python physics integration and add more constraints etc. to allow for cars.

Hooking up an existing game engine is a good idea, and it is also very doable. When we started development of the blender gameengine (around march 2000), we have been looking in using an existing opensource gameengine. We succesfully integrated the crystal space gameengine, and also met the founder ...

>Also, it would be great if collision bounding could actually be set to the >shape of an object and not just spherical.[/b] blender 2.x has solid 3.0 collision detection. it can do concave-concave 'polygon soup' collision detection, and convex-convex polyhedra. It works all very fast, using GJK, AAB...

replacing graphics renderer in the game engine

bandola is on the right track I think, although replacing the real-time graphics renderer by an opengl 2.0 or other abstraction shouldn't be that hard. First of all, the current graphics part is very small, only about 10 classes. Secondly, most of the modules are not dependent on the Rasterizer. The...

game engine architecture doc + small cvs change

there is a doc on the game engine at www.goutai.com/blender/architecture.zip also I saw a circular dependency that creeped into the game engine two days before the release (bad!) I will remove it (expressions lib and game logic lib should not be dependent on ketsji, so the include is wrong). KX_Pyth...
