I finally got around to compiling OpenEXR and there were no problems doing that, but building Blender with them still results in an error. I'll post the entire error below in the hopes maybe it might spark a solution from someone. I have a feeling it might have something to do with openexr_api.cpp s...

Hey SirDude, thanks for responding. I think you might have something there. Maybe I should build my own OpenEXR libs from source with my msvcprt.lib in place rather than relying on the pre-compiled one libraries.

OpenEXR 1.4.0 Windows Libraries Error

Hey everyone, I noticed that the current OpenEXR libraries (lib/windows/openexr) in the CVS are the version 1.2.0 libs. I was attempting to update them on my end to see if I could build it with just replacing the old libs with the ones from the OpenEXR site with the pre-compiled 1.4.0 version libs (...

Okay, I made the revision to the optimization section. Care to take a look to see if I got it right? I'm more interested if I have the toolset correct (=msvc right?).

Thanks for the help Nathan!

Hey Nathan, thanks for taking a look at it. Since I never went the python route to configure the flags I was wondering if you could clarify. Do you mean use the user config file through scons which will then use cl.exe or do you mean using the config file as a script that MSVC will recognize (i.e. n...

Compiling Blender on MS Visual C++ 2005 Express

I'm unsure if posting on this thread will be useful since the post will be all the way at the bottom of page 3, but this is the Compiling Blender Guides thread, so I will post it here (but I am sure people will search for it if they need it). I've done the wiki guide on building with MS Visual C++ 2...

I got it to work, and I already posted about this on BlenderNation, but for those finding their way here I thought I would point them to the two places I put the instructions: http://www.geneome.net/index.php/blender-tutorials/building-blender-with-msvc http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Hackers...

I had the same issue with the windows.h. I resolved it after finding this at http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=7004&SiteID=1 . The easiest procedure to use the PSDK with VC2005 Express is: 1. Create a directory "PlatformSDK" under "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC" 2. ...

Good news on both fronts:

After upgrading to the latest build, the texture issue went away.... at least so far it has.

I have also loaded the files on my own site. You can find the builds at

Hey Ad,

Thanks for adding the updated Collada script, that is a big deal to a lot of people.

The SSE3 (R5) link above is down again. If you would like, I would be happy to host these files on my own website (my host gives me unlimited everything, so that won't be an issue).

Same here. I use Windows to try to open them at first but I couldn't extract. Then I used 7zip to extract and they popped out fine for me.

After seeing that it's not only 64-bit, but SSE3 as well, I am contemplating leaving work early to go home a start using it. Thanks Ad for an amazing build!
