strange, never heard of anything like that.. somehow it sounds like something is screwed up with the default file blender opens. Try to locate the file called .B.blend, erase it and start blender again.

Do you use international (smooth) fonts in blender?

Re: alpha uv texture shows up in 3dview but not in render

I followed a tutorial on UV alpha textures and everything is fine until I render. In my 3Dview the alpha is transparent, but when I hit the render current frame, the render has white where it should be transparent. Did I miss a setting somewhere? hi, yes it seems you missed an important part - or s...

I'd rather hope for the next step - user definable shortcuts, and maybe toolboxes?

actually why not allow the use of more modifier keys, or allow any key in kombination with any other key? this would help at least pro users to perfectly customize their interface.

do you get those messages from the console? are there any more?

the messages don't seem to be blender related. maybe somethings wrong with the permissions (they get screwed up over time). go and launch Disk utility, then Repair premissions on your system volume. maybe this will help.

.OBJ doesn't take in to account armature data. Maybe I'm not up to date, but blender doesn't seem to be able to import a format that contains both meshes and bone structures at the same time. a workaround (and this is just a theory) would be a two-stage export (and a two-stage import): 1 - .OBJ for ...

yes, if you're skilled enough - better, if you want to take the time and learn it - you can model and animate them yourself. to be honest - this might take some time. if you're too lazy, or too impatient, try to find ways where others will do it for you.

there comes a PDF bundled with recent releases of blender, and it gives a quite nice overview of the absolute basics. have you checked that out? (learning how to learn is probably far more important than learning a specific task. looking at readme's and help files that comes bundled with your softwa...

I'm lovin' the following feature 'Around Individual Centers: now works for each face when scaling/rotating mutliple faces at once' I don't think Maya can do this (though I might need correcting) not sure abt. maya either, but max can do it. always missed it in blender, and now it's here - great :)

not directly. Maybe you can try through an intermediate format (BVH?) that is exported by blender AND supports animation data AND can be read by XSI.

FBX support would be nice, since it seems to be common to all major 3D packages.

Thanks! Believe me, I've been working on a replacement for the hand icon. Never understood the logic for it being a hand, anyways :? I would like for it to better convey it's function. Ideas are welcomed. :) hand >> handle or hand >> manipulator. basically its derived from the fact that you use yor...

 geil! bit by bit (no, actualy one huge chunk after the other) blender grows. amazing. with the growing amount of object types (including the new material nodes) i just want to think one step further and propose (again) the introduction of a generic property editor. creating new tabs for each...

Re: UI Unresponsive

I just downloaded the package above (the non-python-2.4 one) and can confirm that on my Mac it has an issue. When it is first launched, the entire UI inside the main blender window is completely unresponsive (however, the Mac OS menubar did work, and I was able to quit the app with the mouse; I did...

not a bad idea, but i personally don't see that as a MUSt HAVE. still may be useful in certain workflows/situations.

spline softbodies

any plans to give more control (=vertex groups) over soft splines? i just see potential for using them as proxy elements with applied dynamics, deforming higher-res meshes or serving as dynamic hair guides.
