Re: mod bf-blender / Windows (23/04/2005)

Not trying to start the discussion all over again, but do I understand you correct that for the 'old' GRS I need to turn off the widget first? yes. as I said, I'm not fully happy with that, either. I noticed it's quite handy to use old-style transform in between. I'll try to modify the code so that...

yeah i heard that, just spent some hours on #blendercoders.. but unfortunately the new combination is even worse ;) though it's too early now (for me), just an idea for customizing keys: 1 - all current keycodes have to be replaced by some sort of messages. these messages/message names are hardcoded...

mod bf-blender / Windows (23/04/2005)

it's my first successful build, using cygwin with gcc 3.3.3. I use the new Xtras, so you'll probably need them, too. I did that as a "proof of concept" and because of a rather long discussion in a current thread about the usefulness of CTRL as a cycling key. differences from main tree: - strict dist...

oh i love the softbodies - it's exciting as back in the old days when "motion designer" came out for lightwave :)

i hope that we'll soon get a good caching system for the simulation, loosing all data is just so painful..

great work !!!

ok empty workspace seems similar to me, cause that was what i got. just to make sure: what exactly should happen when i open: "blender\intern\make\msvc_6_0\intern.dsw" ? first i got the sources via http d/l from the projects site. VS didn't like that one, then i deleted them, updated cygwin with gcc...

1st successfull build - now some questions

ok, first hurdle taken! now i have a couple of questions: - if i change a small part of the code somwhere, let's say a keyboard shortcut, do i have to recompile the whole source?? this took about 45 minutes on my machine! this of course is too long for quick tests.. - cygwin is the only way it worke...

You probably missed out the discussion on why it's the G for translation. But fact is 1 key is easier to learn then 3. i don't really care why it's G: it's easy to reach and it works, that's enough for now :) learning 1 key with ONE function is easier, but what if the one key does have multiple fun...

thanks

error with cygwin

heya, another attempt to get compiling to work.. this is what i get after typing "make": $ blendermake ====> make all in extern ====> make all in extern/qhull/src /volumes/system/blender-dev/blender/source/tools/cygwin/cl_wrapper.pl -c -DGAMEBLENDER=1 -DUSE_SUMO_SOLID /MT -DNDEBUG /O2 -I../include -...

Given the hostility of this thread, I know I will get flamed for this, but oh well... I have been playing with the widgets for a while now, and I havn't found any killer features that are only available with the widgets. Are there any? If so please tell me. how about moving along two axes in a 3D v...

the complains are about: - comfort: this one is hard to argue, but it simply feels not good when using the pinky for cycling. the thumb would be much better, since at least it "feels" faster. maybe this is also because the pinky is the weakest finger, i don't know. it's like being forced to use a st...

Yeah, I as waiting for that. I was voicing my own opinion, and I have no doubt some do not have any problems with it. But, considering the outcry at fist, I get the feeling that, like I said, people have just "accepted" it. A direct shortcut will always be the best solution, imo, and I still cannot...

constraint update/widgets

I'm wondering, in all recent versions constraints don't update interactively, only on ALT+A. this makes it practically impossible to work with character rigs. and yes, once more, meanwhile i hate CTRL-cycling of widgets. since CTRL is used in combination with MMB for zooming it often happens that tr...
