A lot of my comments are based on the fact that I used to be very heavily involved with Blender, its interface and quirky ways ( when working at NaN ), then I didn't use it for a long time, and now I'm getting back into it. However, this time I really realised just how difficult the interface is to ...

I do think that the option should be there for a) new users and b) for existing users who sometimes...

I absolutely agree with this one. It is a real pain to have to switch viewports to add a primitive. Thinking of the scene as a table top, you would always add objects with their Z axis aligned with the world axis. If users wanted to add objects aligned to the viewport, this could of course be an opt...

Agreed, it's definitely needed functionality.

And if the cool green and red glow under the cursors are included, there are bonus points available ;)

Either... a) have non-round theme use non-round panels ( as above ), and round theme use round panels, or b) have a separate option for both rounding the buttons, and rounding the panels a) is probably the easiest to implement, although I prefer b) myself, roun...

SoftImage XSI export

Is someone working on a direct Blender to .XSI exporter ( not .OBJ )?

If so, could you post a URL? I'd like to test the XSI to Shockwave 3D converter on a few files over here.

Regards...

Yep, and a (o) Don't show this message again option on the same panel for easy, first time removal of the pop-up if required by the experts :)

That's what the option to turn it off is for ;) I think it's a great way to introduce new modellers to the very basics of Blender ( eg what the mouse buttons are for ), as it's the first thing they will see when they load up the package. If possible, having options to filter the tips ( eg animation ...

Hey guys, these changes are very cool... when the code gets modified so that they get lit by any existing lights in the scene ( so that the objects get more definition, and are easier to see in the game engine ), this will be extremely cool! :) Mal ============================= -kester Log: Make the...

Tips on start-up ( optional of course ;)

With Blender having a vast range of features, controlled by quite complex keypresses, what about having a tips window appear on startup, like other apps have. Eg when you start up the app, it'll show a tip, with [PREVIOUS TIP][NEXT TIP] and a [DO NOT DISPLAY TIPS AT START UP] buttons. These tips cou...

I've been introducing Blender recently to new 3d artists, and they have been caught out by having blender quit without any error messages quite a few times. IMHO... Blender shouldn't ask if the user wants to quit, if the user hasn't done anything. If they have done something ( ie the undo stack isn'...

On Exit: Do you want to save?

If the undo stack isn't empty ( ie the user has actually done something to change the scene ), and they go to quit Blender, how about popping up a 'Do you want to save the scene? [Yes] [No] [Cancel] ' dialog box?

I've been caught out with this more than once recently by accident.

OK, there's a whole new set of test scene for Blender, using the very latest Windows build ( from Testing Builds forum ).

Use the URL above to download it.

A new primitive

We have monkey as a primitive.

What about having a logo promitive, depicting the Blender logo?

If people are making scenes, and the logo is easy to create and place, I'm sure it'll turn up in some very interesting places in the final renders :)
