With regard to a rigid body physics solution, SoftImage now uses ODE, as well as many other commercial ( and opensource ) projects. You can see various examples here... http://www.ode.org/users.html You'll notice that some of the projects already use ODE for virtual character simulation / ragdolls. ...

Downloading now... These new edit selection features are excellent ( along with the UNDO feature ) ... when the selection functionality is finished and fully tested, they are probably large enough changes to make for a new point release! > Does this start mean well have a complete set of physics in ...

The new selection modes rock!

Ton, you are the man!

levon, cheers for the build!

Hopefully if face selection gets well received by the community, it'll be the default selection mode when entering edit mode :)

( and where's the 'ignore back face' option ;) )

YAHOOO!!!! It looks like that games course is going to be using Blender after all!!! > but I'm hoping for an option to not display face center dots(like in Silo) I'd second that... if you are working on large meshes, selections could become quite tricky to see. Having just an outline might be a solu...

Monkeyboi, your graphics make the point about the need for face selecting in an excellent way! >>To be honest, I believe that this type of mode should have been one of the mandatory coding projects. >Hear, hear. Maybe this is already under-way... if there are coders allocated to this, maybe they cou...

> PS: For a workaround you know you can select edges keeping CTRL and SHIFT pressed, right ? That way you save part of the time instead of selecting four vertices you only need to select two edges. Cheers for the info, Blender usually has alternative ways of doing things hidden in shortcut keys... i...

I was hoping that a few more artists out there would like this feature added...

if enough people request it, the developers will be more likely to start working on it.

Editing: Allow Face and Edge selection and edit modes

Hi there, I just posted this on the main page, but this might be a better place for feedback etc. The one major feature that is currently missing from Blender as a modelling package is IMHO the ability to simply select and modify a singe face or a section of faces ( with an ignore back face option )...

YAY! Spend ages finding the world button ( hidden in the materials section!?! ), and then found the SUMO option. Would it make more sense to have the world button in the same place as the options for sound etc? Even having a separate physics section there would make more sense than having it in the ...

> If sumo is the default physics (I.e, when no world is selected), the gamelogic buttons should be visible by default as well. I just downloaded the latest version of Blender ( it's been a while since I used it ) to try out the new physics features. I couldn't find the game logic buttons ( where you...

> Code for this is broken now, with the restitution of Solid. (Sumo Physics) Hopefully ODE get's integrated as the dynamics library in the near future, with SOLID as the collision detection library. I created quite a few game demos when briefly working for NaN, and the main issue was always the fact...
