so, is there an actual real roll up of what card really works (no bugs, not one, absolutely none, oh and good performance as well) works for linux, or is it you get lucky?

if I'm going to buy 8 of them for a graphics cluster i don't want to buy yet another dodgy pc graphics card.

if by "then" you mean when i did my quick test, that was only a few months ago.... chromium - opengl tiling

anyone have experience with chromium and blender. in particular what's the performace penalty, and can full screen blender screens up to 5120x2048 be utilized?

Yes, blender has been built for 64bit machines: MIPS based SGI, and Alpha based PC's
No, it doesn't make any difference.
