Idea to optimize fluids / interesting for developers?

Hi I did some experiments with the fluid-system this days. Something with filling a bottle. To minimize RAM-usage i changed the domain-size ti fit the bottle-shape and this results in much less RAM-size ( and faster bake )but seems to distort the physical rules. So my idea is to have parameters for ...

Hi LetterRip Yes, you´re right. This will work too, with less ram-consumption. I thought first about a better separation, but while blender has his own prefs in the package, it works as you said. @ Timothy: Sorry, an alias is nonsens, for this starts the original. I need a second instance to work, w...

Tip: Start Blender twice on OSX/IntelMac

Hi Whereas baking a fluid with high resolution i got a little bit boared. So i tried to optimize my workflow. I installed Blender PPC additional to Blenderi386. So i can bake or render with one version, whereas do constructing on the other one. Enough RAM is an advantage. I386 is running native and ...

BTW: I discovered i had very large dimensions before

when conversion to other formats is needed.

Ahh, thanks.
Thats what I supposed, must be matched. !!!!!
So Blender MacOSXi386, 2.4.2(non "a") = Python 2.3 (preinstalled)

No experiments :P

Attention !!!!
I ran into a bunch of problems since using BMAE-script.
Fluid-simulation became almost unusable with objects
generated with BMAE.
Removed it and all was fine again.

Do you say Blender 2.4.2 for MacIntel is running with Python 2.5 ?
Does it have (speed-) advantages?

Hi After hours of work, i can now say, blender works well on a MacPro with OSX 10.4.8.. I tried a lot of different functions, fluidism, etc. and didn´t got a single issue. Rockstable! Performance: Rendering with threads enabled uses all 4 cores, but not as effective as for example Cinema4d. Baking i...

You´re right. But in the filedialog i can´t see immediatly what kind of font it is, only when it has a discrete wildcard a la .ttf or so. In case of non-matching format, you will get an errormessage. So to avoid confusion, i prefer to have the fonts handy as ttf in a special folder, thats all. Thank...

Hi Thats not a problem. One can get TTF-Fonts easily. Should be a good idea to have a ttf-folder in the blender-folder. Iám not shure about type1-fonts, but there are ways to transform Mac-fonts to TTF, which i will do then. One of these "transformer-progs" whre included in former OpenOffice version...

@ LetterRip

I reported the bug/problem to Apple-dev.-connection !!!!
Sent a screenshot and profile, so they have all they need.
Have had an account anyway.

We´ll see what happens. I´ll keep you informed.

Greetings...Jens
