Ooo a UI thread with something constructive for once, I wonder how long it will last =). In my opinion a quick menu, (like the one you get when hit space in blender) should have "one level" or at least have a place for for favorite/recent used tools at the top level. quote: "I could probably name a ...

You probably right LetterRip. But I think there also is a third category. 3) I've used one ore several different 3D packages, I like blender but see a lot of thing that could be improved. These people are meet with same attitude has the ones you mention above. "Change application", "the UI is perfec...

Yeah we need micropoly to be able to do this. I think you should be able to achieve this if you use mental ray along with the blender metal ray plugin. But mental ray isn't directly free... Maybe you're right I'm no programmer either. I know that in 3ds max, the micro displacement are done by the re...

I think you mean normal maps, not displacement maps. No I mean displacement maps (micropoly of course), well normal maps are good too but if you want extreme details they have their limitations... Here's what I talking about (a pipeline guide for zbrush to 3ds max): http://www.zbrush.info/site/inde...

It seems to me that this kind of thing is better done with the displacement modifier and texture paint and/or a 2D app like Pshop or Gimp. Texture paint is at an early stage of development and clunky to use, but I don't see much awareness yet of how it can be used in combination with sculpt mode to...

Sure you can use camera fly by mode, but camera is more optimazed from creatining the sweeping camera moves rather than navigating with precision inside of objects. Try for yourself =)

Feature Request - Walkthrough navigation mode

Here a suggestion, why don't add some kind of Walkthrough navigation mode mode to blender. If you don't get what I mean the same kind of navigation you have in a FPS-games where looking aroumnd by moving your mouse and steering by pressing the arrow-bottons (or W,S, A, D). 3ds Max have this feature,...

That is total nonsens. A Maya fuid/fire expert can't do anything in Max. A miracle wonder modeler in Modo will horrid the sight of Maya or Max. So why would the switch to blender be more easy? On the other hand there are lightwave previz ( spiderman2 for example ) artists swapping to blender becaus...

Yes, difficult for new users. But users are only a small % of the time new users. If there is a system possible that can suit new and old users, then thats great, in the meanwhile lets stick to the usedge of old users, there are more of them, they promote blender better and that's what blender was ...

oktodindon actually have a point, I've used 3ds MAX for several years and big trouble learning blender compared to other 3d applications that I've tried (XSI, Zbrush etc). An better interface would attract more users, not scaring them away, and make the blender community bigger and better. I strongl...
