Wow. It was an understandable question from a new user. As far as expectations are concerned, it seems pretty standard to have a save dialog when you quit. It's a pretty normal expectation, and even I've gotten into the habit of putting in the quit key combination with the expectation that I'll get ...

Re: Why no Unsaved File-Confirmation on Exit?

Stopping the program from quitting is an OS command, I think. Blender is built to be run in any environment, and I'm not sure if it's capable of stopping the OS from ending the program.

It would be cool if there were individual OS quit commands that blender could use, though.

Blender, Snow Leopard, & Python

Edit: Oops, I had the python directory pointing to davidlandwher's "blender3" blender version. Works fine after updating directory, sorry about the thread. I'm having problems with getting blender to use python scripts (though I am extremely overjoyed to be using it at all :D). I'll click on one, an...

You could at least try to be nice and just say "try the wiki." If you have something against his sig, you could ask him to change it. You don't have to be a jerk about it. Dont u think i;ve tried that No, I don't. Generally, when people post questions with no sign of having done their homework, it i...

Are you getting the bugginess of the interface too, or is that just me?
the interface flickers for me. white lines in-between the viewport panes. its annoying :p but other than that, blender works fine.
I just adjusted the viewport once, and the white lines went away.

10.5.0 to 10.5.8 have all had the lagging, while the more recent ones have caused the crashing. I doubt this will ever be fixed. Apples lack of OpenGL support for the Intel GMA's is a long standing issue, and as vendor drivers are not available all you can do is wait for 10.6.1 (which has already be...

Re: Compatibility with Mac OS 10.6 "Snow Leopard"?

Those crashes have been around since about a year ago, with lagging problems as old as Leopard. Thanks for the info, that pretty much answers my question. You might want to go back to 10.4. I can't, since 10.5 was the system built-in, but at least you have that option. Strange, everyone is reporting...

Compatibility with Mac OS 10.6 "Snow Leopard"?

Has anyone tried the new system out to see if there are any improvements? I'd particularly like to know about the status of the crippling 1 1/2 year old Leopard Intel GMA driver problems.

Subsurf Creasing via Normal Map

I've been wondering: what if you had a normal map's slope (sqrt((2*R-1)^2+(2*G-1)^2)), and applied that as a subsurf creasing value? This way, an object would be creased where there was a greater change in the normal map, and less where the normal map was "flatter". Think of it as having a cloth str...

Import Rigged Model

I'm trying to convert a fully rigged model from 3ds max to blender. As opposed to just importing a model & skeleton in two separate formats, is there an ideal format that will take both (including vertex bone weights) while importing into blender?
