It seems that the dlls had not been correctly updated.
I will post a new file with the latest ones.

Alternatively the exe file should work in a blender 2.44 directory.

Blender should work but not a lot of the bundled scripts if the complete python 2.5 is not installed. Blender for Windows will come with enough Python 2.5 so that all the bundled scripts will run. Can you explain a little of what is going on jms? Are you saying Blender will ship with unsatisfied dependencies? JMS, last build ask for python25.dll. Should I rename the old pyhton24.dll or what? Sorry, forget to join it. Attention, a very important thing : it (python25.dll and python25.zip) will not be in the official release if users of win32 OS do not strongly protest against this very strange choice.
