The only way I know is to constrain the movement to one of the Normal directions, but not always ideal.

just go back to the Default screen lay-out and in the render panel set your format, output directory etc. and press render. Blender should detect the Compositing setup, if not open the Post Processing tab and select Compositing

the OBJ file format does not support animation, it is used just for the model. when exporting OBJ's select the mesh you want then tick the 'export selected' option to export only what you need, also Ctrl N will set all your normals to the outside. I'm not familiar with Max but you could try FBX or C...

export your 3D model to OBJ or PLY format. In blender you can easily assign rigging to different parts and animate.
One tip, keep your triangle count to a minimum to speed up rendering.

you may need TransMagic to crate the obj.

First off which version are our trying? 2.49 or 2.57 (as far as know 2.5x needs OSX 10.5+)
Next step would be to launch blender from Terminal and post what it says here.

You need to set up Render Layers, the 2.5 wiki hasn't covered that yet but the 2.4x manual has the info: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:M ... der/Layers
to render to image sequence chose png or jpg as your output format and set a directory location

ergonomics is a key factor with using a mouse as most now (even Apples) will have 3-5 buttons. Cheap mice could result in cramp and induce RSI.
Some people use a 3D mouse, I prefer to use a Wacom tablet as much of my work involves drawing on the PC.

All joking aside Stiv's basic point is that laptops are a poor choice for rendering complex scenes, but you have options; 1, reduce your frame size 2, cut back on the number of lights or bake your shadows 3, render to JPG or PNG each frame rather than Quicktime then use the compositor to put it all ...
