You don't have to buy a keyboard (or nuimpad); under the "input" tab in the User Preferences window is an item, "emulate numpad", which, if ticked, causes the numpad buttons to be mapped to the numeric keys at the top of the keyboard. That said, however, I did not find this a satisfactory solution, ...

Try thjis: 1) In object mode, select the camera object. 2) In the properties editor, select camera properties. This is an image of a camera, and occurs right next to the texture tab, where the materials tab would be in a mesh object. 3) If necessary, reveal the "lens" panel, and under "clipping", ch...

You set the clipping border in the view panel of the properties tool shelf of the 3D viewport (revealed and hidden by the Nkey). Set the max clipping diestance to a large value, like 10000.

What are the settings in the texture tab of the properties editor? In that tab, you have to select the texture type ("image or movie"), select the mapping (UV), &C. John Blain's book, available for free at <http://download.blender.org/documentation/pdf/John%20M%20Blain%20-%20An%20Introduction%20To%2...

If you have misdirected normals on some of the faces, this might be the result. You might try recalculating all of the normals of the objects.

Actually, the current default workspace is pretty easy to work with. What you really need is to spend time with an on line course, line the one offered at http://www.cdschools.org/Page/455 or the tutorial series at <http://cgcookie.com/blender/cgc-courses/blender-basics-introduction-for-beginners/>....

My guess is that assigning a subdivision surface modifier to the object would get your imported object in Blender close to what you see in the Android App. I suggest that, since you are new to Blender, you spend time with one of the two on-line courses (< http://www.cdschools.org/Page/455 >, or < ht...

OK. Seeing the illustrations to which you provide links, I find I misunderstood your intent. I thought you were looking for methods to gain precision in constructing objects in Blender, not looking to provide callouts and dimensions to objects. I think what I'd do, if it were me, is to not use Blend...

You can't combine two objects in this way. What you have to do first, is go to object mode, select the two objects you want to join, and use the "join" operation to convert them into a single mesh. Otherwise, if you want to have the two objects appear to be joined, you have to create the bridging el...

It can be done, but requires knowledge of the code, and of Python programming. It is probably simpler to create the meshes you want, save them in a blend file, and append them into new projects as you need them.

So, if you are asking permission, go right ahead. It's OK by me.

On the other hand, if you are wanting to know how to do it, a bit more information is necessary.

I'll try again. First, because empties in Blender can have the properties of size and rotation, they have axes so that the size and rotation of the empty can be determined. But they are really just place markers, and not really intended as measuring tools. Now, when I had a need for measurements, I ...

G & Lr, in both cases it looks to me like the solution is to add geometry, especially in the direction perpendicular to the distortion.

Anton, I too use Blender, and enjoy Trainz, so I'll give you the same answer as I would in the Trainz forums. First step is to learn Blender. To start out as a novice, and decide you're going to make a subway station for use in Trainz is a bit like walking into a metal shop with no previous experien...

It would be helpful to know whether the phenomenon you are writing about is when the object is rendered, or in the 3D viewport. Also, are the object, and the lights in the same layer? If not, are you trying to render both the scene layers that contain the light and the object? Since you're very new ...
