The output is normally printed to the system console, which is hidden by default since blender version 2.57, so may be you have not enabled it. If so, go to the file menu and choose "Toggle System Console" then launch your program again. Note that it is not necessary to save the script for making it...

Each time the screen needs to be updated use the following: bpy.ops.render.render() bpy.ops.wm.redraw_timer(type='DRAW_WIN_SWAP', iterations=1) Thank you: it works but compared to the previous redraw method it seems very slow. To move the cube 4 blender units along the z-axis I tried this: import b...

I'm trying to figure out how to create a cylinder between two points, for example (-5, -5, -5) and (5, 5, 5). What would be the simplest way to achieve this? (...) Can someone maybe explain the default in python, or how to change it to preferably x, y, z vaules, degrees, or something else? :D The c...

Ah great. Thanks. By the way, do you know if its possible to load these commands from a text file? I would need to draw about 1000 cylinders, rotate them and save them individually. Just need to know if Blender can do this kind of trick. :) Here is a script, to be copied and run in the text window,...

Yes it is possible. To add a cylinder you can enter the following command in the console window: bpy.ops.mesh.primitive_cylinder_add(vertices=8,radius=3) To discover what are the appropriate 'Autocad-like' commands it is convenient to execute the operation manually, first: the full sintax of the cor...

May be this link can help:

You could use something like this (but please note I have not tested it...):

Code: Select all

obj1.worldOrientation = obj2.worldOrientation

Aligning an object to given points

Under the following blender artists' thread:

http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=185226

you find a discussion and links to downloadable examples for both blender 2.49b and blender 2.5 (should work in 2.53, too).

Missing functions in 2.5?

Let me refresh a couple of questions I posed some weeks ago:

1 - Is it possible to link a script to a FrameChanged event in blender 2.5?
2 - Is there any method equivalent to Blender.Redraw() in Blender 2.5?

Thanks.

From the file menu choose " append or link ", select the file where your part is saved, select " object ", and select from the list the object(s) you want to import. Repeat for every file where you have saved your parts. You can either append or link your components. Refer to the link below for more...

Tripod Navigation

From the link below you can download a blend file I made some time ago as a "navigation template" (applicability: blender 2.49b). It is not strictly "first person view" navigation, but the principle is similar. Here the actor is a tripod, and the environment is made of simple geometric figures. You ...

If you intend surface plotting of functions of two variables, z=f(x,y), a recent blender artists' topic should cover your request:
