Re: DocBook under Win
1. Editor A good editor is XMLMindEditor. It has a simple WYSIWYG Interface. There is a free version that can work with standard DTDs (like DocBook). http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor. I tried that and it works quite well indeed. The only and major drawback is that it seems to mess up the XML layout...

Documentation Mailinglist
Hi,
a group of people is working on making a solid foundation for the new manuals (license, fileformat, table of contents, ...). We use a mailinglist to communicate. If you would like to help, please feel free to join us: http://www.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/bf-docboard
Cheers,
B@rt

Sounds cool - go for it! :) There'll be a shortcuts list in the Blender Documentation as well - I shouldn't think it is too difficult to make an automatic convertor from DocBook XML --> C sources. In that way we could keep the documentation and the on-line help in Blender in sync. Just an idea, B@rt

Please check your facts before you post information like this - it is not true. First of all, the guide was written by 5 or mor...

A note...
I'm on a company training for two days. The hotel where I am has internet access available, but I don't think I'll have much time to read this forum and answer my mail today and tomorrow. I'll work on it tomorrow night though - don't worry! Of course I look forwards to hundreds of suggestions in my ...

Hi Alvero, but before you can translate anything you would need to have something TO translate, right? At this moment we don't have a complete open sourced manual yet - only snippets of information. We don't have a complete reference for example. (Bear in mind that the 2.0 Guide is NOT open sourced!...

Documentation Process flow
Hi, I've already mentioned this in the 'A proposal...' topic, but I thought I'd give it a bit more attention. I have updated the document with a process flowchart that describes the CVS, Documentation Board, Authors and users. Please let me know what you think of it. You can also see the chart direc...

Videos: Training, extra chapters, lessons, exercises ? 3. Add a tutorial feature to blender (i dont know now but i remember a long tim...

Hi jeotero, CVS I think is a limitation for non technical people. You want artist as contributors to the docs. Some people may not be able to add to the docs so easily. php.net manual is more powerful in my opinion a living document, instead of end user releases. I have two things to say to that: 1)...

A proposal..
Hi, I have tried to collect the ideas that were raised in this group and I have added some of my own. The result is a coarse outline of a proposal that I have for the Blender Documentation. Please have a read on http://vrotvrot.com/BlenderDoc/ and share what you think. Hopefully we can use this as a...

Hi Xype/Kib, I forgot to mention one important thing: I think you both did a great job on the new site. The design is very nice and easy to the eyes, and the site functionality works like a charm. I also love to see those new articles appear daily - I find myself visiting the site several times a da...
