Your example can be easy done simply with constraints:

You can parent an Empty to each player an animate it like a ball, then you use copy location and copy rotation constraints to send the real ball object to the desired player (animating the influence slider).

Why not upgrade the register code with something like human questions (ie: How mach are 2+3?)?
That way the 99% of the spambots can't register any more.
