I'm so looking forward to this finding its way into a stable release. I must say, I really think you're on the right track with the open shader thing. If the whole Blinn thing can be done so somehow the parameters translate into the standard renderers or Yafray seamlessly that would be brilliant, bu...

Irix 6.2

Is there any chance of an Irix 6.2 port? My SGI is stuck on 2.1 something! (I'd be happy if only to add real subdivision surfaces!!) What features use things only in 6.5? Maybe I could then download the source, stub them out, compile it and be done with it. One last thing, whats the Irix performance...

Just to add my congratulations on this milestone. A usable version with NLA? Thanks.

Great stuff. I hope the momentum builds.

High theory here, but wouldn't it be possible to modify a forum (say phpBB) so it sits on top of a CVS system containing DocBook formatted files? Actually it might be easier in raw PHP . . . and leave the clever stuff to the CVS layer, just a nice web based front end. If you did that it would be dea...

edge select??? select two verticies...wow, and edge! cool! If you only work with vertices as your basis for selection, how would you select only two sides of a triangle for example? I'd be in the "add another editmode" school, after my earlier outburst. It would need to be a new internal data type ...

I'd like to say NO! If you want edge loop modelling do the modelling in Wings and import it. As I understand it winged edge data structures don't give you the immense freedom to mess about with surfaces the way you can in blender's tools. I use wings a lot, but find for really nailing a model down y...

Isn't REYES "Render Everything You Ever Saw", which later evolved into Renderman, which is a scanline renderer?

The one which gets me is that PDI/DreamWorks and Rhythm and Hues have their own renderers too, but these are described as "A-Buffer" and I really haven't got a clue what that's all about.

Should be as easy as putting a text file into your default blend! You're not going to get "context sensitive" clicking working, since the context is often where the mouse is, and if its always in the hotkey window nothing much is going to happen. In fact, why doesn't someone start a project to come ...

I can't remember exactly how, but I think you'll have most luck looking at the "screw" function, and how that works. May be totally misleading mind. I'm pretty sure at least one of the buttons in that group would prove useful to you anyway.

I'd love the bevelling to be implemented in a similar manner to how it is in Wings, and I'd also like the awesome "Connect" feature in Wings. To do them though Blender needs an "Edge select" tool, whereas currently we only have vertex or face select. I personally don't want Blender to become Wings (...

Once you get into the Sequence editor its great, but there was a distinct lack of documentation for ages. I still mean to get into writing plugins, since that glow one is fantastic (if slow). I wouldn't expect it to become a full on video editor though, its just not going to be fast enough. The mach...

If I remember correctly certain scenes in a Bugs Life and Hollow Man were rendered with BMRT, a raytracing implementation of the renderman interface. In a Bugs Life it was refracting glass, and in Hollow Man the water guy. Its worth noting the water guy looked crap, and the rendering time hit just f...
