Just for reference, I experienced exactly this problem with the Aqsis project. Specifically, the files checked out of CVS generally worked, but the .dsp an .dsw files shipped with the .tar.gz source archive, which is generated on a Linux machine, were corrupted in this way. I overcame this by deleti...

Got 2.28 to compile on Windows

I finally got round to trying to compile Blender on Windows and it all went fairly painlessly, following the sticky guidelines from this forum. There were just a couple of changes I had to make to get it all to work. I had to add ..\..\..\intern\SoundSystem to the additional include directories proj...

But to answer your question: Multiplatform: You need Irix compiled binaries, if these dont exists the support for aqsis might not make it into the official blender version at all. Raytracing: There is very little incentive to use an external renderer without raytracing (reflections, refractions, gi...

I dont care about it since I think blenders renderer is better then aqsis, so implementing support for it is pointless) In what way do you feel Blender's renderer is better than Aqsis? If I know where you feel Aqsis lacks I can make efforts to improve those areas. I'm particularly interested in why...

OK, I finally bit the bullet and resolved this. I'll start a note detailing my experience, and perhaps anyone else wanting to get involved on Windows can add to it. It should be in a FAQ somewhere at somepoint. I know it mostly mirrors what is mentioned in the README, but hopefully having it in one ...

I would tend to agree, having a custom UI system like Blender currently has offers much greater flexibility. Especially when you consider that other cross platform GUI systems like wxWindows and it's ilk, are by their very nature generic, and will likely cause some problems at some point when being ...

Tried that, failed on the python/freeze problem. As I said I think what is needed is not, 'this readme has some useful hints' or 'that thread is helpful' but a central document, download this library from here, build it like this... edit this file, changing these settings to... make sure that these ...

Is anyone with sufficient experience willing to put together a step-by-step set of concise instructions to get this thing compiling from CVS under Windows, cygwin or otherwise. I mean the whole shebang, which libraries to get, how to build them. Completely foolproof. At the moment it is such a mammo...

Does anyone have any ideas on this, it is the same thing stopping me compiling under Windows too. I have tried various versions of Python, to no avail.

PS: can somebody explain to me the technicaly differents between a z-buffer scanline rendering engine and a Reyes bases renderer? Difficult one, it depends what you mean by scanline . The term scanline renderer is often used to refer to any local illumination only rendering algorithm, of which ther...

There's no need for Pixar to use Maya for rendering. With RenderMan they have a very nice renderer and as you probably know, this is a hybrid renderer with an excelent raytracer. True, but misleading. Only in the very latest version (as of the last couple of months) has prman had a raytracer. And c...

Still I think it would be good to have Blender export 'natively' to a wide variety of formats. Not sure I agree with that, the 'native' part that is. I think that if the scripting API is sufficiently flexible, then any exporter should be doable in script as a plugin. This would prove to be an excel...
