http://download.blender.org/demo/test/blender-2.36-darwin-7.9.0-powerpc.tar.gz Build as of saturday may 21. Working on release logs still with issues for testing... most important: check if what worked in 2.36 release still is OK as well! :) For G5 Nvidia owners with Tiger: did the error with Bitmap...

Hi Kiernan, The moderators on this forum are truly honest and fair in their attempts to keep an open mind and allow anyone here to share ideas on Blender development. Your attempts to contribute now only work counter-productive. Providing such avalanches of ideas and text just suffocates any reasona...

Current projects + todo + release schedule

Hi all, Below the overview of "current projects", with todo items. Proposed is doing a cvs-freeze (Bcon-4) in 1 or 2 weeks, release itself 10 days after. For everyone; the "new" points below are the areas we can use testing for. And cool sample files where appropriate! (Also posted on main developer...

OSX Tiger: not 64 bits.... really!

With the tomorrow release of OSX 10.4 "Tiger", I thought it would be cool to have a 64 bits Blender out too. Well, after making gigas of backups, repartitioning disks, burning dvds, installing Tiger, trying to fix the gcc4 issues... then finally ready for compiling Blender 64 bits to only find out t...

Simon, The mail address you submitted bounces... you can contact me personal with a valid address of course. :) This is what I mailed you together with the project approval: We are very open to experiments with Blender, so you work is welcome anyway! The legal (GPL) issues we can keep as a minor pro...

Sure, I've approved on your project submission. :) But you have a couple of issues not examined well. 1) It is 100% *sure* that any plugin talking to a GPL-ed program like Blender has to be GPL too. Check the gnu site for that. This is different (as exception mentioned in GPL) for drivers and operat...

I'm a little concerned on the direction of the discussion here... designing a good plugin API for Blender won't be interesting if it doesn't reflect how Blender currently works itself. As original designer of Blender, I really get confused by the proposals here... I miss general objectives or a comp...

Update:

There seem to be several NVidia card versions for G5, the patch has been adapted to recognize other versions too, but only the 6800 series.

You have to type the full path to the binary, like this:

/Users/ton/Desktop/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender -p 200 200 900 800

Will start Blender on certain screen position and window size.

"blender -h" types all options.

We're preparing code now to bring back 'real' turntable, the old turntable had errors, reported in tracker (after using it a while the z axis became slanted). It was replaced with a hybrid method, allowing a mix of 'trackball' and 'turntable'. I personally liked that hybrid a lot, thought this turnt...

Apple G5 Nvidia 6800 fix!

We've found a (temporal hopefully) bypass for the error in OSX drivers for owners of a G5 with NVidia 6800 3d card. This system didn't draw bitmaps correctly for sub-windows in Blender. You can grab a testing build here; http://download.blender.org/demo/test/blender-2.36-G5-nvidia.zip It's the most ...

In memoriam: Jacques Guignot

Hi everyone, Yesterday the sad news reached us that Jacques Guignot died of a heart attack last February 6th. He was one of very active developers in the Python team, especially contributing to the full Python API recode project. According to the people who worked with him, Jacques really enjoyed wo...
