No, Blender uses plain OpenGL for all drawing, not as a wrapper. In it's lowest level (defining the opengl context) that's the GHOST library. We don't use GLUT anymore. Whether or not you have h/w accelleration working, depends at the configuration of your system. Nothing Blender can do anything abo...

In fact, we think of the following: - blender.org : development project - elysiun.com : independent user site - blender3d.org (.com) : product site (using blender) There's still the discussion going on if 'using blender' shouldn't be just a part of the dot org site. At least we've got loads of mater...

NaN documentation database + future
We've got a lot of material to publish. There are three issues related to it: 1. The proper license 2. How to (re-)organize this 3. How to continue after, setting up an 'official' documentation project Proposal: 1. License I find the GNU FDL hard to grasp... we might move to it in the future, but I ...

I've posted an article on CVS write access yesterday. We'll provide a (temporal) new tree to experiment on. A few people now are testing. Hopefully today we'll contact several people who've contributed useful stuff here to join. (Everyone then can access it for read) First goal is only at a 'project...

The purpose is that all forums are about coding and development. Elysiun.com is about using Blender. www.blender3d.com gives background on the Blender Foundation, currently still dependent a lot on volunteers, with me organizing it all. I should make more articles and info available for all new peop...

Hey ingie! :) This would be of great help, a good collection of all the tutorials worldwide. We still didn't have time to go over all old blender.nl content. Migrating servers, and the move to blender.org eats up a lot of time. And then I don't even talk of trying to get an overview of all attempts ...

At least one tip: we used the IRIX 6.5 development environment, and a 7.3.1 compiler. Oh! And compile your own iostream library (libcio), including the different set of STL template files. The latter I've asked an ex-NaN engineer to make available or document again... the libcio that came with our c...

THis forum is meant to find the people interesting in helping compiling and testing Blender at all platforms. Some services will be put in place as well. For example using Tinderbox (web interface to check compilation status of the latest version). In general, 'maintaining' a release already works b...

Server troubles at blender.org
We still use a temporal server (thanks Marco & Stefan!). This little machine is hardly able to manage the load you people produce here. Our new bandwidth sponsor and internet host will be the cool dutch provider XS4all, who has decided to become Main Sponsor of the Blender Foundation. (Welcome!) The...

We had to remove a crucial part of Blender, due to GPL rules... this makes the release quite complicated. There's also no company behind it anymore, and with volunteers we've worked hard to get this far. With at least the code available, correctly licensed, and a new website. And don't forget about ...

Theme: how to get blender compiled
News & chat seems to have only one topic! And we closely watch the results here as well. From all contributions some really good HOWTO should be extracted for the most important question of all: how to get that thing compiled! Hans is still working on putting all NaN stuff in CVS and tarballs. As mo...
