DXF files are often in a scale that exceeds the working area of blender. So try the following procedure: After Importing is done press AKey to select 'A'll objects (even if in the view nothing happens). Next press SKey to 'S'cale the selection. After pressing SKey move the mouse pointer closer to th...

excepting the water and fire dancers, the 3d-face of mr. gabriel and the blobby sequence most of the video seems to consist of 2d-compositings. I haven't seen a single sequence that wouln't be possible to do in blender if all reality footage would be prepared carefully in another tool (doing the mat...

There are several approaches to improving the visualization of normal direction. I personally liked the one with the color blend from face to direction a lot (i.e. normal is starting with blue and gets red the closer to the end of the normal) I do also often additionally switch on the faces in edit ...

I've just tried this config too, and the results are very dissappointing.

The slowdown on my sys (AMD XP+2600, W2k, 768MB) with a QuadroFX-GPU is significant!
I don't understand this! Isn't there the OpenGL hardware-AA used??
Not to be experienced with the default theme - only with the rounded theme.

if you just want to rotate the view, use the numblock 4+6 for Z-Axis and 8+2 for X-Axis.

Same for local coords (x on numpad)

did I get your question?

First image shows obviously more information then the second one. Yes! Thanks! In the second one I can hardly see if only either the front or the back side of the cube has faces, or if all sides have faces. Now imagine another few faces behind the cube and you won't see anymore how many faces there...

It might throw some people off when they see something they like but find out it is not included in the version they downloaded. http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=throw+off Giving up a piece of software just because it's colour theme is disappointing IMO is like judging it to...

No kidding? You're really talking about blender becoming lame just because of you personally prefer some colours and dislike others?
There are discussions about the Python API, blender's IK-Solver and Subsurface Scattering and you are fussy about a color theme...? :?

You could set it up so that your other monitor has one big 3d-view, and the other the rest of your needed views. This certainly works if you don't feel the need for maximizing your IPO window or any other of your views that don't spread across a whole screen. If you do so, the respective view would...

The problem with point-lights is, that you'd theoretically need spherical shadow-maps. I've never heard of a solution for such task! A possible solution could be baking shadows into the respective texturemap of an object. But this is surely on someones much-too-long todo-list amongst baking radiosit...

@joeri: althoug I agree with you on the consistency of the blender window I really wonder what was wrong with Photoshop on MacOS 8? There were much more evil apps like QuarkXPress... (Theres no emoticon for vomitting... ! Feature Request... Feature Request...! :)

Faces visualization mode

Am I the only one who wishes back the old way in which faces were visualized in editmode? Granted the new way looks much more fancy than the old one looked, but I very much miss clearness in which face belongs to which group of vertices. Also granted that the addition of the new face selection mode ...

This type of heavy banding like shown on your screenshot MrTortoise doesn't seem to me to be the usual quantisation artefacts from the 'down-to-24bpp'-calculation. Have you already tried different codecs for the video compression? Anyways,... you should try the current CVS-Compile from the Testing-B...
