Why does OSA/MBLUR use 5, 8, 11, 16?

I think that MBLUR could use any number of samples, but it is limited to those options in blender. Is there a reason why blender has those values for OSA? For the jittering in OSA (and MBLUR [it uses jittering too]), maybe the samples are taken in certain arrangements... e.g. 5 - it could be a squar...

Re: render buttons

BTW, you can get even more smoothing from things by turning on MBLUR as well as OSA. MBLUR has some built in jiggling (which is cool). MBLUR even smooths "Key" (straight rgba) type images - which OSA doesn't. (Well it doesn't smooth the edges - but it isn't supposed to - see this post)

Why the edges of "key" rendered images aren't smoo

Well there are two types of rgba images - straight (aka unmatted) and premultiplied. The three rendering types in blender are "sky", "premult" and "key". "Sky" would be a rgb format, and "premult" and "key" are rgba formats.... premult would be premultipled and key would be straight (aka unmatted). ...

rwenzlaff: If you can turn the gravity animations into IPO's, then you can easily convert PAL to NTSC and vice-versa. In the animation buttons just change "Map Old" and "Map New" - to convert PAL to NTSC, put 25 for "Map Old" and 30 for "Map New". I think you've got to manually adjust the ending fra...

...The number/text entry controls shouldn't look like buttons....If the controls look like buttons, the user will expect them to work like buttons. If they don't, then this is a cause for confusion... I agree... but it was easy for me to make that blender-style 3ds max control so I thought I might ...

dcuny: http://www.lanset.com/dcuny/anim8or/mockup.png Your picture is impressive, but I think it should be easy to enable and disable OSA (like it currently is) - there could be a checkbox-style control next to that OSA drop-down menu. It would be good if the amount of MBLUR could be set independent...

Making the Spacebar more useful & helpful....

I've now got a similar thread to this here in the documentation forum - it is also an idea that is relevant to that forum. I think pressing the spacebar should only show the options that are valid at that time. Also, it should show every valid option. I think that initially, the "Edit" category sho...

ilac: Ok, I'll try and avoid big unsubstantiated statements - though I thought it was true (just a hunch). BTW, it seems we have red, green and blue cones (see link ) - those complementary pairs you were talking about are the ones on the colour wheel I think. I guess the controls for modifying the c...

ilac: No, I don't have anything to back up that statement. My point is that I don't like the dark GUI. There is a reason why GUI's are usually light - like the one for this website - I'm not exactly sure what that reason is, but perhaps it is that it is generally easier on the eyes or something. Hav...

Jamesk: I never realized that about the 3ds max controls! Here's a complete summary of the 3ds max controls (as far as I could work out): - single click in textfield - highlights text so you can press delete or backspace or some numbers to clear it all - double click in textfield (can be slow double...

Your favourite number input controls....

I think a good way of working out a good interface would be to look at the components of it and have discussions and polls. With polls you can see if there is a lot of support for a particular change to the interface. I want to eventually do a poll about this but first I'd need to see what other pos...

...I disagree with the dark colours being harder on the eyes. The main reason I wanted darker colours is because I was doing a lot of work late at night in a dark room, and the light grey was just too bright for me... Well I often use it late at night too and I simply use a light in my room! Most p...

What about if every time some change is made, it makes a copy of the object you changed... and you can set the number of levels of undo - which would be equal to the maximum number of old copies of objects there are. The different versions of the objects wouldn't be visible to the user though. Even ...

Making the text editor use the Windows/Mac/etc clipboard

Here's a feature suggestion: It is quite important because it allows python scripts, etc, to be copied and pasted between blender and other programs, like Internet Explorer (if you want to tell someone about your code or paste their code snippet with yours, etc) The text editor in Blender 2.26 uses ...
