NEW WAY TO MAKE REALISTIC SHADOWS

Here is a good article for Blender render and lighting developers.-

http://www.osu.edu/researchnews/archive/shadow.htm

I was linked to this site from here-

http://www.flipcode.com/

I hope that these are good links for the Blender.org coders.

Is Halflife2 interesting?

I was wondering if any of the Blender Game Engine developers had glanced at video demos from the upcomming Halflife2 game. Did Halflife 2 spark any ideas in your mind for the new Game Blender? I loved that realtime radiosity and those dynamics.

Realtime Screensaver

IS is possible to create an executable realtime screensaver from Blender? Or can you just export the game code from Blender and add some lines of code that will allow your Blender realtime work to be lanuched as a screensaver. Then finally compile that code as an exe.?

This (a)-(b) distinction is not really fair. Artists consider things 'cool' too, hence the bells & whistles you can see in 3d packages, which are seldom used... and I've seen 3d coders doing 'cool' things that have helped artists in ways they couldn't even imagine. We just need both dude! The real ...

64bit version of Blender?

With the new Opteron chips making an intro into the PC workstation area has any thought been given to developing a 64bit version of Blender?

Any good Blender .Rib exporters?

I have bee trying to get Pixie to work with the new Tuhopu Blender 2.25 with no success. Are there any good Blender to Rib export tools that are ready to test now in Blender 2.27?

JA-I've always been able to acheive more than satisfactory results from Blender's renderer. Is it prman? Of course not. Can it get better than most of the stuff you see in the WIP forum on elysiun? Absolutely. I think that 80% of Blender users just don't spend the time learning to push the renderer...

We want photoreal features like Yafray but without the waiting Yafray doesn't render quite as fast as Blenders Scanline renderer. I have some test that I did for one of the city scenes that I'm working on. I used 26 array lights to accomplish "faked GI". I will post the render if anyone wants to se...

The Yafray Look

The main thing that I want to see improved is the Blender scanline process in which the renderer interprets photoreal lights, surfaces and shadows. We want photoreal features like Yafray but without the waiting. What steps are taking place now in this, area?

I just had the crazy notion to download Maya's Personal Learning Edition. I intended to learn advanced character animation techniques with Maya. I have been told that Maya hosted the best character animation tools known to living and breathing humans. All that aside, has the Maya licensing practice ...

And it was just until recently that apps like lightwave could somewhat handle the obj file format with st...
