Wow lots of posts! broken: OK, there might be a nightmare, but if there is, people will have to clean it up themselves, or no one will use their modules. Its just like linux, there are may window managers and there are many ui tool kits. over the years people have found that some of them have grown ...

dreamerv3: No, I cant say any one has done it before... That's what makes it so fun! try downloading this snap, of a verse server and some apps, its all verse 1.0 but it may give you an idea. http://www.quelsolaar.com/technology/verse_snap.zip broken: Yes, interfaces may be vastly different, and it ...

dreamerv3: To answer your question on coding guide lines: First thing to realize is that each client is its own executable. its not like a dll or lib its an exe. This is very different form how the other 3D apps work. This gives all "plugins" huge freedom, they can be written by any one, group, or s...

Ok I will try. On the question of the division of clients: Clients can be as big or as small as you want. So blender3 might just be one big app with a verse API. But I think it would be a lot better to write it as small modules, its much more efficient. If you want to write an editor, or something a...

Well don't wait for me! start coding. That's why I have been working hard on the spec, so that others can contribute. The Next Gen effort is not a one man show, I will help and hopefully give some direction, but it is not about me. If every body is just waiting for me to pick up the key board there ...

the largest post ever (verse 2.0 spec)

Hi every one! Here is perhaps the longest post in this forum yet Its the verse 2.0 spec!!! There is a huge amount of things to fix and add. and it will turn up in a nice PDF soon. Some things are missing, (mainly the specific command specification) some things are just plain bad... But if you want t...

Thank you (something i definitely missed in my last post) I have made some fairly cool apps... I guess.. The sad thing is that now that im on The Next Gen Blender there is not going to be any more cool apps for a while. I need to make all the basic boring stuff work first, like verse. Im currently b...

It is very consciously. it something I do turn on and off. I like playing around a lot with languages. Especially black English but rather pre 90s slang. can you dig it? "My bad" is one of very few newer expressions that i like. Saying "sorry" is sometime a little too serious, and that why i like "M...

Sorry about the huge delay. http://www.quelsolaar.com/technology/verse2source.zip But the new version is very nice, The API is now just about complete. And I would like any one who is interested in hacking to try to send packets to verse to make it crash. I have sort of given up on doing huge amount...

I am a member of the OpenGL 2.0 working group. and i took part in designing the new shading language (a very small part). The design is not yet finalized but will be voted on before siggraph. If you want to program for openGL 2.0 I suggest you buy a new card from 3d Labs or ATI. they have beta drive...

Ok its fixed! It turns out the code was not written... I wrote a new func in the v_cmd_gen.c that computes the size of the commands, and writes them out as enums now (easier to read). I also fixed the double build problem, if you define: #define V_GENERATE_FUNC_MODE in v_cmd_gen.h the server will re...
