i read a paper recently that seemed to suggest that limiting rotation to a single axis was relatively easy, something like just setting one strip in the array to 0,0,0,0 or something like that. it went on to say that putting angle limits on a joint wasn't a particularly great leap either, though mor...

you're right thorax, the topic was your essay, not your message formatting. my apologies. WRT your proposal. I personally cannot see the benefits of this smalltalk approach, perhaps because i've never tried it. My opinion is that blender's interface is quite well optimised, with each area functionin...

I needed to download sdl.dll
here -> http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.0.php
and put it in the blender dir.
and yes, those new shaders don't seem as good as the screenshots i saw from cessen's work (never tried tuhopuu). I think Ton might have hacked them in in a bit of a rush.

Are you viewing the webpage on a 640x480 screen, that would explain the problem you are seeing. i'm browsing at 1024*768, but that's irrelevant. The forum is of flexible width, so screen size shouldn't matter, and wouldn't matter if you used proper paragraphs. what if you needed to go back and chan...

also, if you don't want the sibdivided vert to be in the middle of the edge, you can slide it using a scaling function. TAB into editmode and select the vertex you want it to be closer to. eg, A..........B..........C select A SHIFT+S (snap menu), cursor to selection. press dotkey [.], to activate ro...

Just one part missing... You need to go into "blender/source/blender/blenkernel/intern" and locate constraint.c In this file there are a whole bunch of functions that you need to add your constraint to, in the same way that theeth has done throughout his tutorial. The last of these functions is "eva...

nobody is seriously considering "slick looking skins", i'm sure. what people are doing is designing different was to create the interface using OpenGL calls, in the same way that blender already creates it's interface. these "skins" will increase the processor load by a miniscule amount, while at th...

the point is, as a memory dump, the blender file is very difficult to decipher by other applications. It contains everything from objects and the relationships between them, to the state of every control in blender (buttons pressed, etc), even the screen layout. Some people have had some progress de...

I totally agree with this I run into this problem every single blender session. It's a break in the flow of productivity to have to cancel your scale command, reposition the mouse, and then try again. mouse wrap around would improve flow, making things more "click->action" orientated, rather than "c...

Yeah, thorax don't you have a job or something to go to? where do you find time to write all those four page replies? try breaking it up into bite sized chunks, be direct and to the point. y...
