i don´t know what´s wrong with blenders ui..?! you should take a lttle bit more time to examine blenders abilities...maybe you´re right in some case, but YOU want a workaround like your old applications... you can costumise blender a lot... take a look to my ui, it looks similar to your requested on...

blender is a very good ARTIST tool, for non-coders, in my view! blender can do a lot of stuff with the GE, especially the tuhopuu-builds. but the fact is that the GE works in openGL and don´t use direct-x, like most of the demos for windows! the GE is/can be less coding-technical for non-coders but ...
