Blender has it's own message handling/windowing system called GHOST but as for the GUI code it's all OpenGL hand coded in the /src directory. I don't think you can extract an API but you never know ;0

I assume you mean a .exe that doesn't have any .dll dependancies. The problem is that the .dll's that are packaged with windows (python, SDL) are really written (code wise) to be called from a dll rather than be statically linked. This is especially true of python. I don't know if this is possible o...

try adding:
from Blender import *
which should grab the Scene module
or else change Scene to Blender.Scene

I think SPE comes in 2 flavors - one for blender and one without hooks for blender. Im not sure how it runs but i bet stani does :)

I'm planning on this update in 3 stages. 1st is to get the api for manipulating armature + bones. This includes getting, creating, manipulating the armature/bone data. 2nd is a pose module that will give access and allow manipulation of the bones at a timeframe in the scene. This pose module will ne...

From what I've seen .3ds is a proprietary format (i.e. read 'copyrighted') from autodesk/discreet. The format is freely available on the internet as people around the world have hexed it to death. Can autodesk try to enforce it's copyright - sure. However, in the case of open-source software I don't...

Your not techincally using msvc7 - your using scons with the vc7 compiler. From your original post: KeyError: 'BULLET_INCLUDE': means that your accessing a dictionary with a key that doesn't exist. File "source\gameengine\BlenderRoutines\SConscript", line 49: kx_blenderhook_env.Append (CPPPATH = use...

I have no problems importing array and printing it's doc string. It must be something in your enviornment that is preventing this.

You can use SAX and DOM to parse XML through blender python. You should then look at the API documentation about the scene and render modules in BPYthon.

It would be easier to use a wrapper :) Unfortunately blender has no 'API' to speak of (heck it doesn't even have header files) so it's a challenge to get such a beast to say the least.

We have poor support for keys in the api right now. After the rewrite of the animation part of the api we should add better key access support.

Frankly im not sure someone else isn't working this though. It would be good to ask about this on the python mailing list :wink:

The armature api is being rewritten as we speak.
Bones will be callable by name.
There will be a select/getSelected() as per your request :)

Vector needs to add a tp_richcompare pointer to solve stuff like
if vector == vector:
continue
I't will be added by next release.

The armature/bone code is currently being completely rewritten. It will deal with parenting, posing, constraints, and deformations.
