... But this Ati bug must be well documented in their site and a workaround may be possible. If it were a known bug it'd either be fixed in blender, or ati's drivers. ATI did send some blender developers some of their graphics cards, and I could have sworn this bug went away for several users aroun...

Erwin Coumans is the one working on the physics engine now used in blender [bullet], and other aspects of blender's game engine. He used to work for havok, and also worked for sony on getting PhysX acceleration on the playstation 3 [cell architecture, the PS3 uses the cell to do PhysX stuff [suppose...

Okay, I need to calm down... so, what version of blender, what operating system, and what graphics card do you have? also, can you be more specific about the problem you are having? Older versions of blender used to get slower and slower with use, it would take several seconds after rotating the vie...

because 1) blender uses opengl for everything 2) not all opengl drivers and graphics cards are perfect I would be incredibly surprized if the system you're having these problems on has an nvida card. My guess is that you have an ati card, but I think other people said they had similar problems on Si...

Are any java opengl libraries installed by default now?

... I'd imagine it'd just be too much effort for little gain, you might as well start over from scratch

yep

textured mode is for showing uv mapped textures [or for uv mapping textures], it doesn't show procedural textures [that you make with the nodes editor or the texture buttons]

I think havok's approach [using a graphics card] is better

... that said, I don't know what erwin has in mind with respect to physx cards

I'm still not sure what you're trying to do, but I can explain why what you saw didn't do anything 1) the python.zip that comes with blender comes with only a portion of the things you'd usually find in the lib or lib/site-packages folder of a proper python install. 2) when you install python it reg...

... you don't like the animated opengl preview because it doesn't have textures/shadows, and you don't like reduced size previews because you want the full textures, but you want a reduced framerate animation preview at the output resolution with textures?

you sure it's not saying "NameError: global name 'name_list' is not defined"? [you're just showing class definitions, I have no idea what code is failing] in python, unlike java or c++ you need to refrence self when refering to instance variables. setting name_list = list() will set a local variable...
