A few suggestions: 1. Are you using the "open" command in Blender (CTRL+o) or are you importing? Because there is a difference. 2. Try to locate the object in the outliner. It is possible your imported object is very large or very smal and you just dont see it in the scene. 3. Make sure you have the...

Enabling render layers in Blender is not enough you need to save your animation as a numbered (OpenEXR multilayer) image sequence or no passes wil be saved. To be able to import multilayer OpenEXR files in After Effects you may need to use this AE plug-in: http://www.fnordware.com/OpenEXR/ As an alt...

Make sure both your Blender version is 64 bit as wel as your Python version. Are you using a Graphicall build or the latest official release from the Blender foundation?

You may need to uninstall your Visual C runtime library and reinstall the latest version suitable for your OS.

One of the earlier versions of Blender with the game engine had a demo of a fighting game. It was with the skate girl character, seems logical it can still be done.

Blender 2.56a beta is the latest release.

The modeling is pretty much unchanged across the 2.5x releases, since the introduction of the new interface. So you should be okay with some of the dated tutorials.

What format did you use?

If you are using .obj make sure there is a .mtl file in the same folder.

When using CAD formats, even DXF I generally move through 3rd party converters. My preference is starting with the STEP format and converting that to OBJ then move to Blender. However I dont know if your aplication supports STEP, even if it doesnt its still worth the effort to open your DXF files in...

1. Enable shadows in your render settings.
2. make sure you have a shadowcasting light
3. If you have a shadow casting light and shadows enabled make sure you also have "Ray" enabled if you have ray shadows.

Topic: Import SVG vector paths to be added in 2.5?

Paths can be imported in older Blenders, 2.4X. So your better of for now using an older Blender to import the paths and opening that Blend file in 2.5

When 2.5 wil have its own importer, I dont know.
