The stuff you want is under the File->User Preferences menu on the Themes page. There are some Presets for different interface colors. Under Text Style , there are settings for font size (in Points) for titles and widgets and such. If you really want to customize your theme, select User Interface.

There is an operator in the texteditor menu to turn text into 3d text
One more entry for the List of Frequently Requested Existing Features list. Does Blender rock, or what?

No idea if this applies here, but whenever you can, it helps to replace loops with comprehensions.

The other standard way to speed up Python code is to write an extension in C/C++ to do the heavy lifting. Oftentimes, the code has some small section that accounts for most of the execution time.

Maybe I am just feverish, but I seem to recall Old Blender had an option to load 3D Text from a file. Quite handy for credits.

Maybe the basis for a simple add-on?

Fixed... It was totally my fault...
Heh. There must be a German word for the combination of embarrassment and joy in these situations. *I* certainly know the feeling.

Thanks for reporting back. Glad it is working!

There have been some internal changes to Blender and the BPy API between 2.66 and the latest 2.67. BMesh comes to mind. If you are going to use an old version of Blender, likely you will need add-ons that are compatible with that version. Input from someone who actually knows the details is welcome.

And remember, most user of 3D software comes from architecture.
I would be very surprised if this were true. I am pretty sure most Blender users are not architects.

You need to decide if your goal is to create an application or to create a GUI library. If the end result is an application, you are much better off using an existing toolkit. There are *lots* of them. Writing a GUI library is a lot of work. Not a task for a beginning programmer. ( I am assuming beg...

As long as you have enough RAM to keep from swapping (which is horribly slow) or running out, you should be good. Fluid sims are computationally expensive. The more CPU you can bring to bear, the better. Computational Fluid Dynamics is one of the reasons people build super computers. I don't know if...

make -j2
One hint for getting blender to compile the first time is to NOT use -j. The multiple jobs result in output messages getting interleaved which makes them hard to read.

There is a link to Building Blender on the Development tab up above.
