bmud, you could probably set it up so blender's render screen is on a different monitor than the one that blender's interface is on, but as far as I know blender's interface will still be "frozen" till the render is done or cancelled, so I'm not sure if there is any advantage (other than being able ...

Excuse me, but why should anyone listen to requests when you put them this way? Blender 3D doesn't need high-end Features (for moment), but strong Features. That's your opinion, but others think differently. Good for you. Please don't follow the Linux way, take rather an OSS way. This makes no sense...

So it's wavey when it's rendered, or when you are just looking at it? Because ray tracing has NOTHING to do when you are in modeling mode, and OpenGL has NOTHING to do with rendering an image in blender.

I'm not fond of the mouse orbiting (even in apps like maya) because I find they increase inaccuracies (alignment issues) but I suppose if it could be incremental to a point it would be a good improvement.

Try the round theme in the theme switcher, I recall trying that theme out and those features came back, but I may be wrong....
